In the latest Flypast it says Chadwicks early delta designs were done with the help of aerodynamicist Eric Priestly and that the Vulcan design ‘ morphed ‘ into the delta with out his influence.
Yes Duxford is an historic site but it is certainly not preserved in the condition it was at any time in its RAF history. Making it not a preserved ‘item’. It is not a question of could it be done it is a question of should it be done and the answer is no.
I’m guessing kev35 will not have an internet connection where he is at the moment. Lets hope for good news in the morning.

This meeting of minds should be recorded for posterity 😀
Pagen, agreed about its significance in uk aviation history. Also it is very important to our local history, both aviation and social. There are few museums who should be ashamed for letting up the chance to have this aircraft. One not so far away.
This is a very different situation to say Duxford, where the airfield is not the preserved `item`, it is a place to put preserved items. Hence Airspace, American Air Museum etc. Fort Paull is the preserved `item` which happens to have other things (Beverley) inside.
I do not disagree with your point of adaption, conversion and supplementation of historic buildings/ areas for modern use (for example I would like to see Buckingham Palace converted in to a hospital or the land sold for offices to pay some of the deficit) just not in this case.
Just a quick post untill i get to my laptop. Blue2 is right fort paull is a very historic site in its own right, to put a building tall enough to cover the beverley in the centre of it would ruin not just the history and look but also take away an important revenue stream. In an ideal world she would go down the humber on a barge and live in a hangar at brough with the buccaneer, f-35 etc. But thats not going to happen. The fact still remains fort paull bought this unique / historic aircraft when nobody else would. They should be commended for there efforts. Support them, six quid for a day out is not a lot.
Just finished Catch-22. Excellent, book well worth reading.
I`m off to put some horse chestnuts in my mouth now 🙂

The famous `Airfix Hunter`
Sorry this is the best I have. Blue2 may have some better pics 🙂

Thank you all for the kind comments
Deskpilot – The APU and wireless operators position are still there. I did get a pic but my girlfriend is stood in the way 🙂 Sorry no cockpit pics. When I was told the aircraft was open I expected a tour but all the aircraft was free reign apart from the cockpit which had a board bolted over the access ladder.
Tangmere – Thats exactly the thread I was thinking of 😀
I like having the Beverley here, just up river from its home at Brough and next door to where it spent so much time at Paull Airfield but I have to agree it should be inside at one of the national collections. The thing is, it came up for sale, and Fort Paull bought it. So good for them for making the effort.
PS. Saw this and though off you lot 🙂

I would recommend Fort Paull to anybody as good day out for the money.
Be warned though, the exhibits range from the bizzare to disturbing 😀
