And the real difference between the two Property Prices?

…a mere 14 acres of land.

    What a lovely find!

A book full of the things that aren’t taught anymore…

Useful facts, practical tips, manners and a work ethos.

The hangar roof trussing and the “long-side” opening main doors along with the rear workshop-type buildings seem to be typical of the 1930’s german style. I used to work in a similar one at Gutersloh til the early 90s.

    If that helps?

the Hand Extinguisher in the pic is manual – definately not automatic – and was the standard CO2 type fitted to all cabins and cockpits for dealing with internal fires.

All automatic Graviners had a “Banjo-Bolt” type of connection at their tops or bottoms, depending on the type. Some had multiple release heads/mechanisms. There was no localised capability for re-charging them and, basically, they had to go back to graviner-kidde for any maintenance. Many were pressurised – some up to 3000psi. They were nearly all explosively activated by Sqibs to break the bottle seals.

As potentially explosive vessels containing toxic/corrosive materials all the automatic types were removed (or should have been) when aircraft were placed in long-term storage, museums, etc, for return to the stock or to the OEM.

P.S. I dont know what an Mk21 looked like, but maybe graviner-kidde (or whoever that is now) could help you?

I believe all the BBMF aircraft are still classed as military stock and are maintained under the management of the RAF’s Large Aircraft Project Team (wot some of us knew as the Eng Authority(EA))

I also believe that in recent years they have undergone some serious re-assessment of their airworthiness – due (I think) to Haddon-Cave and the fact that these aircraft fly over the public most of their time.

But I might be wrong – of course!

…and the Hong Kong (28 Sqn) Wessex went to Chile too, I believe? ….or was it the ex-Shawbury ones….?

I was posted in to ODI shortly after the FI conflict and made a few mates of those on the Atlantic Conveyor – and a couple are still are mates.

All the F3s were being broken down for spares recovery (for the GRs)at Leeming – thought they’d finished!

Sounds like you’ve got whats left of a tear-down bound for melt-down?

Looks like a winch or gearbox winding handle with a long engagement slot and possbly a retaining boss/bolt.

    Definately not a starting handle.

Is it me, or my ignorance, in noting that the Wildcat’s Ailerons seem to both be ‘up’?

Is this some sort of “Flap” arrangement? (a la Buccaneer)

…I once knew a “T-Bag” when I was on 208 at Honington – early 80’s – I think he was a Fairy-type trade but I never actually knew his real name?

    I just wondered if…?

I was offered a job at DUX some time ago (I think it was TFC but can’t remember – it was that long ago) and was told which project(s) I would be working.

I was really up for it and for quite some time after the offer I was really torn between heart and wallet…unfortunately, the wallet won by some 50+% from realistic but ‘commercial’ offers.

Much as I love to see hear and visit these places I class them as nice but not real – for employment. Suitable for big skills and big hearts with no debts.
