Yes the RAH-66 and V-22 and F-22 are pretty bad programs.
USAF doesnt need the F-22, face it guys, they could’ve made the F-35 a bit better in the A2A role and you already have a GREAT strike aircraft and a great AA fighter, it’s already good in A2A but it can be better.
What’s the F-22 for? What air superiority does it need to fill that F-35 cant? Against Typhoon? against Rafale? against Su-30MKI? against PAK-FA, F-35 will be able to tackle ALL those effectively, maybe if it was made a little better in A2A it will be great.
There is no mor need for a hi/lo mix in my view, Russian threat is gone.
USAF should just stick with a good medium sized multirole aircraft.
F-22 is just way to expensive and it’s Air Dominance Role is really questionable.
V-22 is a maintenance nightmare, it’s twice as more expensive than an average helicopter and the only advantage it holds against other helicopters is speed, but it’s too vulnerable to enemy fire when hovering, too expensive, too limited etc
RAH-66 is a crappy way for Army to spend money on something, I know the congress decided no fixed wing aircraft for the Army which screwed them over but thats not the excuse for them to spend massive money on a stealth chopper which costs about 3 times more than an Apache and is not so great either
Cancel F-22, refine the F-35 into a multirole fighter, give it a bit more powerful engine, cancel the V-22 and make a better transport and for christs sake modify one of those lighter choppers and cancel the Commanche. But I guess too much money has already been spent on the F-22, so yahh it would be even dumber now cancelling it.
Whata a waste of money. United States has made quite a few bad decisions lately, especially the USN too with their F/A-18Es instead of the Tomcats.
