I have been following this thred with interest as I am after a new camera as well. I have decided to go for the Cannon 30D.
What I would like to know is what lens to go for. I use a sigma 500 on my Minolta at the moment and would like to know if there is an equivelent for the cannon?Phill
http://www.outflankeduk.com – my website……and yes I can photograph other things than aircraft!
You could buy the Sigma 50-500mm in Canon fit.
Or have a look at the IS range. L glass and things like the 100-400mm are extremely expensive, or Canon do a cheap 70-300mm IS aswell, two versions, one being smaller thats about twice as much.
Yeppers, great shots, in particular the BMI a319 departure 🙂
Fantastic shots. Your panning is superb, really brings out the focal points on the aircraft. Like everyone has said Gulf Air in particular!
Fantastic shots. Nice to see the retro Lufthansa again, in good weather!
If you don’t mind me asking where did you take the climb out shots? 🙂
Following on from Adam, I think the best way for you to decide is set your self a budget for Body and kit lens, go down to your local jessops and have a play. They were more than willing to hand cameras over to me to play with when I was in your position.
Saying that, if you did want to go 4/3 with olympus you should strongly look at the upcoming upgrades or at the e-400, the twin lens kit is well priced 🙂
Kool shots DJ, the sun shining on the atlantic air shot is fantastic, aswell as all the other sunset ones 🙂
Seems quite odd to see aviation photos with intresting backdrops.
They really make the shots. Great photos 🙂
Woopers, kool shots Sam 🙂 Shot with the flash is amussing, how many heads instantly turned around I wonder? 😀
Wow. Very kool shots Adam, I really like the Singapore B747 approach shot 🙂
Also reminded me to buy a train ticket to Heathrow for next week 😀
It’s aliiiiive!!
Still can’t upload photos though, matinance is still on going apparently. 🙁
Just to add something…
If you go with the 350d, it’s easily had for £350ish.
However, tesco direct are selling the 400d are a stupidly good price of £399, PLUS you can claim £50 cashback via Canon.
Ahh, missed this thread!
The sunset ones are absouletly superb. Fantastic angles too, can’t be beaten 🙂
Yeah can’t see it dissapearing, very successful website. It’s done this a few times before, someones probably just pressed some wrong button 🙂
Yeah I’ve been having real problems, doubt it’s been shut down though. It did have a matinance message up earlier, I can get as far as the home page anything else just doesn’t load.
I’ll bet his CHILLLLZ were MULTIPLYIN’, but he WASN’T LOOOOOOSING CONTROL…
