I gather around 40 passengers got kicked off an Excel flight at East Midlands yesterday after the airline found out Golden Sun had gone bust – they had to do a baggage id and all as the flight was pretty much zipped up and ready to go when someone decided the Golden Sun punters weren’t going – nice way to spend a holiday [NOT]!

OK, that makes me breath easier! 😀 There’s a third Gemini Virgin A346 (and a third 744 too! 😮 ) which I still need, but I’m working on them both 😉
The Gemini BOAC 747 wasn’t difficult to obtain – for those of us who started collecting Geminis from the early days (the BA 747 Hong Kong [Hong Kong release] was one I missed that I finally just caught up with) – but I accept it might be challenging now.
Speaking of Gemini Virgin models… Last year, at a show in the UK, I was browsing the stand of a guy who obviously hadn’t got a clue. He had a pile of Gemini models including the original GJVIR001 Virgin Atlantic (white colours) G-VFAB “Lady Penelope” “£15 to you Mr” he said! “Yes indeedy” I thought as I couldn’t get the cash out quickly enough – that’ll make for a good trade one day, as I already have one, and its real worth is probably £100+

Awesome collection Andrew – I see you have a few rare ones in there, like the Virgin Concorde and the UPS! And how about those Virgin A340-600s – are they all Geminis, or do you have the Dragons too? You’re lucky if you’re getting a Pepsi Concorde – its worth a bob or two and I know more than one person who’s still trying to find one.
Latest model at Chateau Skymonster is the Herpa 1:400 CSA 737-500 Anniversary picked up at EMA this evening, and very nice it is too! Now I find that the Postie has a parcel in the depot for me too… Likely more Aeroclassics / BigBirds from Tracey, CA! I’ll find out tomorrow!
Andy
Did you get the club one ?
Indeed! 🙂
PS: Postie has just been… One TCA Constellation also now lodged at Chateau Skymonster 😎

That Hong Kong tale is worth silly money from what I’ve seen?
It was the version in the Hong Kong box released only to the Hong Kong market – my last Gemini, I’m all up to date again now (I even have that gross Crosswing 747-400 Christmas special! A certain friend in Livermore California found the BA Hong Kong for me at a very acceptable price! 😎
Two more of my recent acquisitions:
I like the sound of a noisy jet. Aircraft are meant to be noisy, give me a couple of Speys or Tays over the CFMs of today!
Well remind me never to book a flight on Air Danairboy – you won’t have it long before the banks take your train set away.

It amazes me how a few folk who post here (not all by any means, of course), the “arm chair fleet planners” I call them, think they know more about aircraft selection than the airline staff who do this job on a regular basis and actually get paid to do it.
Airlines exist for one reason, and one reason alone – to make money; to make money for their owners or share holders. Now I accept that not all airlines are particularly good at that at the moment, but if the professionals in an airline believe and can justify that an A321 can make them more money than a 757, then I assure you they’ll take some A321s. And that’s whether or not they’ll take off from Gibralter or Zakinthos with a full load – all such factors are taken into consideration (except in a failry widely rumoured case of a UK airline that bought a couple of A300s – I’ll say no more!) before the make money / won’t make money decisions over a specific type are finally taken.
Anything else is mere sentimentality – we may prefer to see tricked up 737-200s or 757s over Airbus narrow bodies or next-gen 737s, but if the bottom line says that the latter make more money than the former, I assure you that emotions will play no part in it.

More great models guys. Andy – Any chance of a photo of the Monarch DC10? 😉
Sure thing, just a quick snap for now:
