It was booked to take a Rolls Royce Trent 900 (the engine that will go on the A380). It also took a Trent 700 for an A330 and a V2500 for an A320 seeing as there was space in the hold. I am told that there are three more Trent 900s to go to Toulouse in the next month or so, but no idea at this state whether they will air-freight… Watch this space!

And regarding the departure… He said he was too heavy to make the climb gradient on the SID, so radar had to offer him additional vectors around high ground!!!

Thought that the light was bad last night for its arrival… That was nothing compared to the departure time tonight!!! 😡
Nice ones!!!

Somewhere… Although its mainly TransEuropa Caravelles (went on to become Hispania or Hispania bought those SE-210s after TransEuropa went bust???), and the 1-11s were G-AVM*. May take some time to find those slides!

Excellent pics… That place, along with Speir (sp?) is definitely on my hit list. Now, if only I could get a cheap flight to Frankfurt…
And no thank you, I said FRANKFURT, not Hhan!

Its a Breuget Atlantic, anti-submarine warfare
It was indeed taken on Sunday, but from the spectators’ terrace on the terminal as I was waiting to take a Canadair flight back to Stockholm. If you were there, we were probably very close!
It was a great show, much better than I could ever anticipate, and I’ll be there next year as well!
I was indeed on the spectators terrace Sunday morning – I went over to the show in the afternoon to catch a few more DC-3 pictures (and because the show side was best for sun in the afteroon), and I then returned to the terminal for my evening flight back to the UK. Which Canadair did you go back to Stockholm on? I may have a picture of it. In any case, hope to see you next year! 😀

[QUOTE=Sonnenflieger]Without a doubt the Airport Classics in Hamburg last September, a civilian airshow![QUOTE]
Ah Sonnenflieger, a man after my own heart! 😉 T’was a magnificent show, and in some respects better than Coventry given that they had more DC-3s flying and they also had one or two nice geriatric jets like the DC-8 and 707. If your Electra picture was taken on the Sunday, we must have been stood pretty close together as I have a very similar picture. All being well, I’ll be there again next year if they hold the show again – well worth the trip from the UK (BA ERJ-145 from BHX).

MANAIRPORTMAD,
Sorry if my comments were taken out of context. I wasn’t doubting you at all – I know that there was a 747 at RIAT last year and as airshows go, having a 747 in attenance is rare. But as Ren Frew said, I was just having a joke because, in my personal opinion (and admittedly only my opinion!), propliners are far more interesting than 747s. Sorry for any offence I caused!

PS: The Twin Pioneer has a commercial certificate of airworthiness but doesn’t really work for a living. Its owned by Air Atlantique and they use it to fly pleasure flights and to ferry passengers from and to airshows. I had a ride on it last year – very nice one to get in the passenger flying logbook!
And they say Ryanair are unsafe the 767 appears to be a death trap in recent months.
I’d still rather go on a 767 than anything of Ryanair’s! 😀

BA 747??? 😮 The best commercial airplane at an airshow???
I can see you still have something to learn about commercial airplanes  😉
Just remember, REAL airplanes have propellers!!! 😀
Sadly no Coventry Classics this year, and possibly no Coventry Classics ever again now that the evil Boeing twins have invaded the airport 😡
