    My thoughts… Please note that I am NOT suggesting that I always agree with a.net’s decision making processes, but what follows is WHY I think your pics have been rejected based on knowing something about that process;

    1. The flight deck shot

There are two problems. First, the rather distracting arm top right (and the ugly water bottle bottom right FWIW). Second, the flash glare on the autopilot panel and to a limited degree on the EFIS screens – a.net does not like flight deck pics with flash glare. Do not bother to appeal this rejection – the problems are insurmountable, its an easy badmotiv call, and appeal will only support the original decision

    2. The cabin shot

Less sure about this one. It looks a little soft but I’m on a lap top screen right now so its difficult to be sure. Not really sure about the motiv thing, but in principal I think that the pic would be better had you stood up to take it – it is a bit all seat backs and overhead bins. Whether I would have rejected it had I been screening and had the quality been there – dunno

Also what is worth saving ?
The Viscount, there’s two preserved already.

I just quote the Viscount as an example…

There’s already plenty of Vulcan’s preserved, but that doesn’t seem to stop the RAF Museum wanting TWO themselves and the country (via the lottery) wasting huge amounts of money on trying to get another one in a decent state. Its about time that the country got its sense of priorities right when it comes to aircraft preservation.

I am just saying that the loss is not as great as the scrapping of the Hendon Beverley say.

It was a shame the Beverley at Hendon went, but hardly a great loss – its an obscure type that none of the general public will have heard off, that was operated only by the RAF for a relatively short period of time in limited numbers, and of which there is another preserved example in the UK. As such, its demise can be quantifed as being no worse than the scrapping of the airliners.

Nasir, they’re operated by the British Airways Flying Club. Despite the name, anyone can join. Contrary to what some people believe, they are NOT the official provider of initial pilot training to BA – the airline and the flying club are independant in that respect.

What is the weather going to be like next Saturday morning over the South East of England (April 29th)? Do we forecast anything meteorological getting in the way of our enjoyment of aviation?

Who cares? 😡 90% of the UK land mass isn’t in the South East of England and 90% of the GA airfields aren’t either, but 90% of the controlled airspace probably is there, so its the rest of the country where the aviation weather is important, not the SE. :diablo:

I just see “Image Not Available”. If you post a valid link, as a FORMER airlines.net screener who is (a) happy to take a conflicting view to a.net when appropriate and (b) prepared to defend a lot of what happens behind the scenes at a.net when people make unjustified adverse comments, I would be happy to offer an opinion.

London-Paris used to be the busiest international air route in the world – Eurostar and the channel tunnel put paid to that, and I don’t know what has replaced it at the top of the list.

Nah, you’re wrong, LBA doesn’t matter at all, at least not to me! 🙂

Problem with ****hole (sorry, Shiphol) is that you need a car, or a benevolent local with a vehicle, to get good photos – whilst the roof deck may appease a few, its really not the sort of location keen photographers would want to spend the day given the opportunities available elsewhere. Dusseldorf, on the other hand, is do-able without a vehicle. Also, having just arranged hotel accommodation for both airports for the late-May bank holiday weekend, DUS seems to have cheaper hotels – the Horrible (sorry, Holiday) Inn at DUS is pretty good value for a twin-room.

Hopefully they won’t need that paint job after June 20th, the day England play Sweden! 🙂

Looks horrible – seems like they stole their paint from the MaxJet paint store.

What I find bizarre is that a few months ago, after the survey, it seemed to be suggested that the airframe was in better condition than expected and that this would actually help cut costs and timescales. Contract delays? Well didnt’ they know about those months ago – why has it taken until now, four months from rollout, for them to realise that they’re short of £500,000. If they are still on target for an August rollout, what’s the issue with “contract delays”? And “uplifts”???

Maybe a little less double-speak and a little more openness would help convince us they’re on top of managing the job. And if they are failing, they need to justify how they have spent public money and explain properly why they need more.

I’d like to see the Vulcan fly again, but I don’t think many people are going to sink more money into a bottomless pit. Full disclosure of what’s happened so far and an open and honest plan and budget that takes them from here to the display circuit and beyond is what’s required to salvage this mess now.
