Well, clearly that is the case in the short term. As it stands right now we don’t even know if the J-XX (J-14) could match either the F-22 and/or F-35. Let alone a Naval Version if one is even to be built???
That would mean the smaller Japanese carriers will have superiority for sometime to come. But then you don’t know with the Chinese, may be they have been ‘studying’ the Stealth designs for a while now and may come up with 2 different stealth fighters in 6 years. :diablo:
I would hope so……………..What happens if the PAK-FA is revealed only to find out its not nearly as Stealthy as the F-22 and F-35.
It will be at least equal to the F 35. I would think it will be equal to the F 22 in terms of stealthy design. Although behind it when it comes to avionics and radar.
There was this programme in history like Dog Fights of the Future, where the USAF pilots current and former were analyzing the planes. They were united in their view that the Russians are certainly capable of matching the F 22 with their design and that its a question of funding and need. 🙂

Well, that’s been by point about China acquiring two large Aircraft Carriers. As it could very well start a naval race. Which, both South Korea and Japan could counter with smaller yet more capable designs………..IMO
The capability of an AC is dependent on the capability of its planes. So i guess Japan will be satisfied with its smaller carriers operating JSF types till the Chinese come up with their carrier based stealth fighter.
Just A Thought.
Sometimes weapons sales are governed by the use of an ally in case of a particular threat, rather than the traditional friendship. So while no one is going to dispute that Britain remains America’s closest ally, there may be other nations where the sale of advanced weapons make more sense.
Japan for eg is a significant counterweight against China. So it makes sense selling them F22s and F 35s.:)

Err. The Aid goes to humanitarian field and the U.K is given an account of how the money it gives is spent.
The Aid is more or less a P.R stunt, India gives Aid to African Countries for eg,
Stop the Aid and its the poor people who suffer not the governments or military.

I am not a China fan. But these greedy folks who sell stuff, and don’t learn from the past have only themselves to blame for it.
Why would you sell stuff to a country with a notorious reputation for making replica copies ?
