Sounds nice if you ask me too. Solves the problem with different ‘types’ as well. But cold reality is that its not listed in the MRCA, so must be a separate purchase.
Navy may be interested though :diablo:

don’t try to change the topic about IP rights. we are talking about self sufficiency, and whether you like it or not China is doing a better job at it.
This allows China not to be ripped off so blatantly and often when it can avoid it.. the only recent example being the Il-78 deal.India on the other hand doesn’t learn.. it continues to “cooperate” with the wrong people and continues to get ripped off like this MiG-29k.
A long time ago, Chinese and Indian empires had very close relations and had high respect for one another’s cultures. After European Imperialism, this changed. China evolved and is going out into the world on its own. India still relishes in its dealings with imperial powers and continues to get screwed over by them.
Both are inter related. India can copy and make replicas too if it wants to ( And it may in terms of emergency) but we tend to not do it. China may finally be changing its ways too, the recent agreement with Russia regarding this matter points to that.
I am practically happy at the knowledge that my country do not blatantly copy things without paying for it. However I am disappointed at the lack of support its military is giving to its indigenous products.
Imperial powers like ? Russia ?

not really, it relied heavily from Kraus Maffei, which is why it looks so much like a Leopard2. its fire and control system is Israeli, engine and transmission are German, etc. For the most part, its a foreign tank with an Indian badge.
Still there are no IP rights being violated. And its not a replica copy either. The design is Indian, so is the armour. Getting design assistance and copying a design is entirely different.

The MKI is not Indian, Its a Russian plane with Indian components and we are not making any more than what we signed contracts for.
We are not naming it HCA and saying its Indian.
And the Arjun Is Indian with mostly Indian components, It differs a lot from Russian Tanks in fact its specs are more in conformation to western types.

lets see, India cut the first steel for their carrier in 2005 and expect it to launch in 2010.. and yet that’s not ambitious and beyond their capabilities
IAC is only due in 2014-15 you are mistaking it with the ATV it seems which will be launched soon.
blatant bs.
people seem to think that China hasn’t progressed beyond the 1960’s. Its now 2008 in case you haven’t learned. China rarely orders anything new from Russia, and the things they do order, aren’t the most advanced.Built in China products have steadily become on par, if not superior to their Russian counter parts. That is why China is building their own Type 99, not ordering T-90s, why it is building its own new ships rather than ordering new ones. Aircraft that once had Russian components are now or will be 100% Chinese.
The same can’t be true with India, which takes decades to even decide what it wants.
When people have no respect to intellectual property rights such ‘advances’ are easy. J 11 is an Su 27 rip off as are fighters before them. KJ 2000 is Israeli, so is the core design of the J 10.
Steady progress in replica making.

Here’s a *superb* video of Chabanenko on exercise which was posted on another forum:

You’ll see basically every single weapons system onboard in action, with the exception of the Klinok SAM and the Udav rocket launcher. AK-130, Vodopad (awesome sight, that one!), decoy rockets, Kashtan… the lot 😀 I believe sferrin was looking for footage of Sunburn launches, well look no further!
Awesome video thanks I have saved that to my pc 😀
I think you are the last person to ask for an informed and balanced outlook.
Perhaps you should continue this discussion at your nearest bar. I’m sure you’d find a more amenable audience.
Sorry no compromise with terrorists, whatever the cost. 🙂

There is only a political settlement at the end of the Day, the Afghans live there we don’t, they keep fighting we eventually go away, we have to get them to want to stop fighting
If the terror never ends, all countries affected by terrorism should participate in the Afghan campaign. Even if it calls for a 100 year international troop presence, so be it. Leaving things half way is not the way, and you cannot bring the tribal Afghans to the negotiating table like the civilized IRA.
