China may very well get involved if a sustained war breaks out now. But the smarter thing Chinese would do is building up troops in the Eastern border and not supplying stuff to Pakistan. When that happens India will divert some of its assets to the East as well.
But in a future scenario where I think India will be more closely aligned with the United States and Afghanistan, The U.S can counter this by say directing carrier task forces in the Taiwan region, so the Chinese would also need to divert their resources to the east. And Afghans can also mobilize forces to the Western Pakistani border and may be conduct a few strikes inside training camps in the western side and this would need Pakistan to divert its troops as well.
For Now India would be just happy to Bomb the ISI building and a few terrorist camps.

Ideally the PAK FA should be India’s F 22 and the MCA its JSF. But the way its heading it looks like both will have two engines and may share many components ( i think this is why Indians joined for PAK FA in this late stage).
If there is a time to attack Iran, it is now. The Bush admin is still in power and Iran’s air defense upgrades are not yet done. I think Israelis would prefer a few conventional war headed rockets Iranian rockets falling on their territory now rather than nuke ones later. :diablo:
You can think what you will. Desert Storm took several weeks. All damage inflicted was/is temporary only. Even starting something like Desert Storm will stop the IAF in a few days. I can not see, how the IAF will achieve total surprise to prevent foreign involvement for some days at least. 😉
And what makes you think that the Chinese will get involved ? And if so to what extent ? In the future a movement or two by a super carrier in the Taiwan seas would go a long way towards stopping involvement.
PAF will be on the receiving end, but before everyone start assuming IAF is going to do a ODS on Pakistan we should be reminded that the IAF has not yet demonstrated that kind of air-to-ground capability. Just because USAF pulled it off on Iraq doesn’t mean every large air force can duplicate the effect. Even USAF had a hard time with Serbia, and Pakistan is considerably bigger than Serbia and Iraq put together.
IAF haven’t fought a war since 1970s. Kargil was against targets inside Indian territory. And it has come a long was since the 70s and at the moment i think it is capable of destroying PAF infrastructure.
Bad news indeed, but in this case as in many others it is impossible to work out just what the Indians are hoping to achieve by some of their decisions, that is ,when they occasionly do get around to making a decision. Why they persevere with the Kaveri is beyond me, the vast majority of the worlds countries have to rely on imported motors & being so detirmined to develop the ability to put a home grown motor in such a lacklustre plane as the LCA doesent make sense to me .
Tiddles
Because they are so happy with foriegn stuff and don’t want to get LCA. They are running out of reasons, and if the LCA gets a new engine they probably cannot give more excuses for not inducting it.
I think IAF is capable of destroying PAF infrastructure, (runways, radars, towers etc) before the Chinese can get involved. 😀
it depends on the weight and thrust requirements of the platform on which it is to be fitted..the twin engined MCA (if it is to be built), was to be a twin-engined fighter in the same size category as the Rafale or Typhoon, not the Su-30MKI or Raptor..it doesn’t require a AL-31F, 117S or F-119 size engine (which will weigh more than F-404 and M-88-2)..
and the Kaveri’s weight and thrust specs were to be almost the same as the F-404 or M-88-2..they’re modern engines and with better metallurgical technology, they could possibly increase the Turbine Inlet temp and increase the thrust.
If its similar to F 404 then I think we can forget about it being the LCA engine. The IAF wants an engine with more thrust than the F 404.
Kaveri should be redesigned from the core and made ready by the time MCA is out.
As for the LCA an off the shelf engine is the way to go
Sorry 😀 didn’t read the ‘less’ anyway its bad news indeed.
Excellent News :diablo:India – U.S defense ties are going :D. Please the JSF next 😎
Not good news It was supposed to be good for the Rafale and Dassault the co-dev and future commonality of the engines may have tilted the MRCA balance in the Rafale’s favour. If true that is bad bad news for the Rafale fans.
Actually we must be preparing the Kaveri for the MCA or the next project, saying that it may require more thrust than what is required for the LCA.
If the LCA is ever to see light past the first 20-40 planes, we must be pragmatic and induct an off the shelf engine.
In the face of obvious facts underlined by statements from pilots in exercises such as Indradhanush.
Facts eh ? Give links since ur asking me for it.
Rafale and Eurofighter are more expensive than the Super Hornet. Which flies in the face of the aussie deal. And in light of the fact that the Shornet would be a totally new a/c for the IAF in that it has no commonality whatever with the existing fleet.
What commonality does the Eurofighter have ? What does the Rafale have apart from the fact that IAF operates Mirage 2000.
This amazing observation in the face of the obvious trend of modern a/c (mig-35, su-35, typhoon, rafale, gripen NG, even F-16lblk60) to include IRST sensors.
Whatever you blabber about the effectiveness of this in actual combat is not proven and is debatable. As for your counter arguement regarding the Raptors stealth, you can effectively see that in mock combats exercises.
err based on what? outward canted pylons and missiles i s’pose?
No considering its superior avionics with APG 79 AESA and soon it will get the AIM 120D. JHMCS and more. Like i said when you buy a fourth gen fighter as a stop gap till you have more fifth gens, would you rather buy a proven and fully developed platform or something that’s still taking its first steps ?
Should I go on or is this list good enough to make you use google?
All this shows is your will to fight and so be it.
To Scoot,
Your utter bombast, prejudice and hypocrisy are quickly turning the forum into a muckpile of tit for tats. Apart from starting numerous controversial (flaimbait) threads, you have shown an incredible consistency in stirring up a can of worms on most threads by throwing in something that is totally irrelevant. Congrats, you just stooped a few levels below Star (at least he is sincere in his ignorance and there seems to be little malice). Btw, Ankush did a good job in exposing some of that hypocrisy which you bring to the table.
Talking about tit tats from what I have seen you are much worse than scoot or anyone else for that matter. This has been one of the most visited and posted threads in the forum so credit where its due. Would you rather have a forum where you always talk about angle of elevation of the fore planes or the azimuth of the radar, there are numerous threads like that here, and you are free to leave this alone if you do not like it. You saying this about Scoot is like pot calling the kettle black.
U.S.S Allmighty comes here to fight I think. He asks me for links and facts while not providing anything for what he stated.
India-Russia partnership is much deeper than the Groshkov deal. The Brahmos is a great example of this, and one would assume that behind the scenes ToT have taken place for longer range missiles, which is banned under treaties.
Also the navy is leasing Russian Nuke Subs and the design for the ATV is basically based on Russian Nuke Subs. The Indian moon mission is going to use a modified version of the Russian vehicle.
Saying that India also seeks closer ties with the United States and I think in a changing world that is where its long term future lie. India if willing can play an important role in US – Russian relations. :diablo:
