I think if the Russians proliferate the PAK FA then America may sell F 22 to their allies in a subsidised price.

Do you think there will be Russia – Canada conflict ? It will not be an all out war anyway.

As years go by and technology and manufacturing techniques improve, It is likely that that the unit cost will come down. It is estimated that the current gen AESA radars are more than 50-60% cheaper to make than the first gen ones, like the original APG 77 that was used in the Raptor.

Then again the issue is on Canadas procurement. May be USAF presence in Alaska will deter em Russians.

Awsome capability , and advanced technology aside there isnt a Nation on this Earth that can afford the F-22 Raptor .

Apart from Japan and Israel may be. They have already said they are interested if America sells.

Quite prematurely one might say considering the election is right around the corner and its distinctly possible that a new govt is elected (the same one that wanted to give dassault the m2k-5 contract).

The NDA government will be even more Pro – US than the current U.P.A one, one would feel. The Rafale and American Jets can expect a fair competiton. The others may lose out for political reasons. 🙁

I would ask for the F 22 as well If i was Canadian. Canada is braced for a future conlfict with Russia on the Polar transit, waters, resources etc. I wouldn’t wannabe taking the mighty Russians on with a bunch of SH.

I want the US to give Georgia F-22s and F-35s, and then we’ll have a look at the “ratios” – which would be of lots of destroyed Georgian aircraft and few for the Russians – which really, the Russians would have destroyed probably still on Georgian airfields – which, really, wouldn’t tell us much of anything either, much like your loved ratios.

For whatc exactly, to give the Russians a reason to invade again, saying they pose grave threat to national secuirty 🙁

The point isn’t has a Russian Aircraft every shot down a American or for that matter a Western Fighter. But what is the ratio…………..:diablo:

I have to disagree with you scoot in this case. In most cases bar the Israel/Arab encounters, the Western fighters were better maintained, had better pilot training and better networked. They also had higher numbers.

Western fighters tend to have a higher sortie rate and better maintenance cycle. Thats why IAF guys are so proud of their Mirages.

My bad then, did not understand your context.

Naah, I hardly have anything against you perse; its just that one expects some backup to statements like the one you made.

As far as Scoot’s claim regarding my statements in the previous post being without evidence, the words of IAF pilots( reported by AWST?, beaten to death on fora etc), PAF pilots (ACIG), USAF pilots (similar to above reports), VVS pilots (media reports ages ago were discussed on this forum by some old timers including BHarry, who sadly is absconding of late). On internet fora, I doubt it gets better than that.

Otoh, there is NOTHING whatsoever to backup the mythical superiority of all things western as scoot and you point out.

    REgards,
    USS.

    USS.

Actually there are no winners/losers in DACT with allied airforces. It depends much on the roe etc. If you play to your strength you will have better results. Thats what happend in Cope India and then Redflag.

BTW, the rafale F3 with AESA is going to the UAE this week for testing.
I guess, the F16bk60 are also going to show up over there :dev2:

Would be one hell of a fight if they DACT:D

Wow, so a dismal performance by the su-35 in a so called “competition” held by an american ally is the indicator of the flanker’s worth eh? How convenient that you should entirely omit the fact that arthuro listed those links to highlight the bias inherent to that bid. I wonder how well an F-18e/f or F-15k or Typhoon would do in a competition held by Venezuela or Cuba.

I was actually very critical of that fact. I do rate the Su 35 as one of the best non stealth aircraft out there.

Anyway you are too blinded to see what i meant. You are prejudiced against me, sad.

Sensor Fusion is not something thats unique to the 5th gen fighters and Eurocanards. The latest F 16s / 18s have sensor fusion which is just as capable or more.

See this originally posted by scooter in the IAF thread.

Isn’t it rumored that the F-16 literally has the RCS signature of a flying barn?

Mig 29, Su 30 and F 15 also have big RCS signatures.

Hence my point that they all are fairly equal in this regard. And when they carry external stores then it don’t matter for much 🙂
