Eurocopter Tiger
Such a nice little gunship… I remember when it started full-scale development… ~20 years ago.
My, how time flies… 😀
At least it wasn’t canceled like the Commanche.
Damn i bought that game Commanche4 and completed the missions only for the Americans to discard it
But the Bison then seems to have lacked some of the caveats offered by the others such as large external fuel tanks, a decent rwr, and an integrated self protection jammer.
Not true this the Jammer is good you should listen to the U,S Af briefing on Mig 21 Bison.
In my mind I was just posting two articles than expressed my frustration with yet another Russian/Indian Project Delay. Yet, in hind sight I could see how the “title” could be taken as provocative. Which, was not my intent at the time that I posted it. For that I do “APOLOGIZE”. 😮
Provocative to Russians I mean. For me as an Indian, the title of the thread is all truth.
IICR the B60 had an enormous price tag, when sold to the UAEs.
That included developmental costs as well. They paid for Block 60 development.
What I wrote is that the rafale failed to pose a clear advantage.
It was better BUT NOT that much.
So what you are saying is the Rafale should basically be much better than it currently is compared to the F 16 Block 52 to do justice to its higher price tag.
What do you think about the Block 60 vs Rafale F2/F3 ?
If the F16s didn’t use it then I find it odd that they managed to beat the Rafales…
Is this not prejudice ?
You did mention in an early post, in the HAF forum about an engagement with the F2 Rafales that the F 16s won ? When was that ?
Sorry I think that was in this thread itself

The Viper Still Takes Some Beating 🙂
There is a difference and if you hang around for a little longer, you will notice. Almost everyone has something they like, fair enough. You could put most people on this forum in categories by products they like. MOst of them however, don’t mind seeing a flaw in what they like. They will defend their stuff hotly, but will also acknowledge drawbacks every now and again.
In scoot’s case, as a rule, you see non american products being bashed irrespective of merits. Be it a Gripen, Rafale, Tiffy or Su-35. But it gets better, the western stuff is ALWAYS better, period. Its like US>W.Eur>Rus>Chn/Ind. No matter what. The remote possibility that in a remote area of specialzation W.Eur>U.S>Rus or God forbid, Rus>U.S>Eur can simply not happen in Scoot’s world. To an extent I understand this, but in extreme quantities it just reflects prejudice, of which I am not a fan. And then there is the limitless flame baiting – the tagline of this thread is a fine example.
USS.
To be honest scoot has always been a decent enough fan of the Rafale, going through all the Rafale threads as i just did now showed me that. He also thinks its ideal for MRCA, says the SH will win only as his personal opinion.
As with Russian stuff, we have a lot of people here who are pro Russian and we have people here who are Pro American.
And to be honest when it comes to fighters, American and Western European types do have superiority. See how much custom built the MKI was in order to make it competitive in the global front.
Su 35 is a decent fighter though and i was surprised to see that it finished fourth in the Korean competiton ( according to links by arhtur)
The title of this thread, as provocative as it is, is true in many regards, apart from the frigates all programmes are well behind schedule.
Riiight. So Scoot does have a side kick I see. Anti american bias because I pointed out obvious flaws in the fat viper or the shornet? Very democratic and voltairish I s’pose. Noticed similar accusations towards Swerve as well cause he pointed out some glaring contradictions in your arguments. tsk tsk.
As far as USA-India is concerned, my stand on it has been clear for the longest time. The two countries are destined to have a decent natural alliance in the near future, the circle after all is complete only when the newest and the oldest join hands.
Does not mean I stay pig headed and blind to crap on either side.
USS.
Side Kick, no but it was funny you critcising him for his bias.
Everyone has the right to their opinion I suppose, you were saying yours and I mine.
Same thing with regards to scoots percieved bias and yours 😮
I read all that arthuro and also where Korean authorties denied that it ‘won’ the competiton but the Boeing jet was selected.
Now if you think there is anything politcal there thats this
Russia’s Su-35 took fourth place with “ordinary” rates in all five categories.
That looks more suspicous to me than Rafale not winning 🙂
And Moreover, Korea was not the only competiton it was in, There was the Singapore one and now the Greek one.
I have nothing against the Rafale. If they give India a better deal than others, then i hope it wins the MRCA 🙂
Thats a big If tho.
Impressed in the Korean competition, which was so “fair” :diablo: that only Boeing would submit a bid the next time the Koreans tried to hold a competition.
Impressed according to Dassault, totally denied by the Korean authorities that it won (ie. bettered the F 15).
If you are saying which shoulda and woulda won, then Austrian parliament has had more serious issues with selecting EF in their deal.
Rafale is pretty decent but its hard to believe that the reason it has lost all the competitons it entered is political.
Yes reading 🙂
The thing that Rafale has not won any competitons is a fact. But for the rest like Price (which there are conflicting reports) etc i will read the threads and attached docuements.
Thank you for the links :).
Reading threads update…….: Mostly fights…..searching for first link……
Not sure about Austria either. There was a row when the memebers of its parliament questioned the deal and there was a reduction of 3 planes.
