These rockets and bombs were carried in addition to the external fuel tanks?
So F-15 that is carrying external fuel tanks and heavy offensive ordinance has no better maneuverability than an F-4 Phantom then?
The reason I’m asking is that there is a concept of mission kills I think in Vietnam that was used by the communist that if the fighter which is the Interceptor can have the attacking aircraft Jettison it’s offensive ordinance than it has succeeded in its mission
but surely the JMSDF should have been able to knock out the kyndas with ease and their sea sparrow missiles can dispatch their SSN-3b/c
Thanks maybe they would fare a little better against the shaddocks since ive read that the kyndas cannot fire them aa a-salvo of 8 but usually of 2 at a time
Is that true ?
Please feel free to correct my assessments
If a destroyer with 1 sea sparrow and is attacked by 4-5 supersonic missiles at the same time ( like P-500) can it take out all 4 of them ? or will it overwhelm its defences given its short range
Stranger things have happened
Assuming it does
What is your best guess
What was the price of mig 23 in the 80s ?
And the price of a F16 in the 80s
Can the f15 launch all 4 sparrows at one target at the same time ?
Sorry for above refer to separate thread
^ probably not that easy if your targets are enemy fighters?
Was the Mig 31 capable of guiding 4 missiles at different targets?
During the 80s was the f 15 able to target multiple aircraft with sparrow at the same time ?
Or it had to target one at a time with a SARH sparrow ?
Orions cannot run from flagons if they get too close to submarine bases
I was looking at the OOB of soviet units based in thr far East and it seemed like tracking and hunting P3 orions snooping around the Soviet coastline could be another role for them.
Did all P3 orions typically fly with escort fighters ?
Did the kyndas pose a significant ASUW threat to modern ships in the 80s ?
I mean they might be equivalent to some destroyers in service with Turkish navy but were the conventional shaddocks essentially obsolete by then? And what I meant was the only possible use of these ships in 80s might be as single mission to launch a single strike with some TNW on a NATO SAG before they are taken out ? Your thoughts?
^the mig missiles will impact first? Or mirage?
