here you go
does anyone have any pics of blinders carrying a external payload?
blinder was also used by iraqis and libyans with some success ….?
I also like this one
^ absolutely…..
regarding su-11 i think after 1962 some production was done with around 100 built but it ended in 1965 and some like you said were converted from su-9
.Su-11
^I cannot match these awesome pics but still ….
^ yes it wasnt a big success but apparently >1000 of su-9s were built
I dont know if they carried anything apart from the 4 alkalies ….maybe atolls were fitted later??
what do you guys think about this one
Tactical ballistic missiles would be dealing with NATO airfields rather more quickly than the NATO fighters would be dealing with Warsaw Pact fighters. The mobile air defence forces that operate with the Soviet forces did not expect their own aircraft to defeat the enemy air forces… they expected to be fighting under air attack. And they equipped for that.
Yes these added to the problems facing NATO airforces but having dedicated interceptors for use against strike/recon planes must have taken a lot of pressure off the VVS fighter force…..dont you think?
Even though they were purely interceptors but I still believe that in any conflict b/w NATO and WP in the 80s they would have played a crucial part
if nothing else they would have relieved the floggers/fishbeds/fulcrums from the tasks of intercepting NATO strike/recon planes leaving for them only the task of airsuperority.
But since the NATO countries had to use their multi-fighters not only for maintaining battlefield airsuperority but also intercepting swarms of Fitters/fencers/frogfoots they would have been overworked.
Superority in numbers might have worked
^ exactly interceptors were too specialized in that late 50s-early 70s era
so much so that for dogfights were nearly useless.
I wonder if the VVS had a substantial number of fishbeds in reserve in the 70s to deal with NATO agile fighters
^Djnik,very nice…. I really appreciate it
^ awesome, thanks……… could you also post some firebar pics please….

It’s obvious that those nations which relly on sea trade for survival will see the greater side of MW operations. Australia has one of the most modern fleets of MHC’s and we regularly deploy them on excersises to keep their skills up. Apart from our Hydrographic ships, our MW craft spend the most time at sea, even more than our patrol boats.
what i meant was which part of world’s oceans are most suitable for mining i know a few like baltic, persian gulf etc
but b=can mortant shipping lanes be closed like straits of malacca
Well if it had of come down to it, the entire Baltic would have been blocked off, The Aluetians would have been hard fought for and Japan might have been Russian, IMHO
do you think waters around the kurils would have seen extensive mining?.
