theyre chewing through theyre engine supply at an alarming rate, 2 of the 8 have already been canned, one for corrosion and one for metal shavings in the oil filter magent traps
Isn’t a cost effective repair possible?
Lee, I always wear a ‘support’ when lifting it!!:D
You should get a medical cheque.
£15 for a new truss.
(You have to say it aloud).
They’ve just tweeted that she’s about to do a second engine test. Not sure if that means they’re doing 4 engine tests, one for each engine, or one test covering all 4 engines, or in pairs.
XH558 – Turns into flatbed truck
XH558 has been replaced by a flat bed truck this morning.
I can only presume this is a temporary issue, and that she is outside for her test flight. Hopefully this will be in time for Cosford on Sunday, with a little time for any last minute rectifications that might require a further flight.
All appendages crossed for a successfuly test.
Webcams here [click]. Note that cam5 is either not working properly, or permanently set to some distant time in the past. 6 has no feed, I wonder if it is outside and need activating?
The RAF could, if they were so inclined, have flown an HS125/Dominie. Whilst it wouldn’t be a showstopping event for most people, I don’t think they’ve ever flown one in a display, so it would be an unusual, but welcome sight.
They have had them on static display from time to time – but an aeroplane belongs in the air, imho, even if it doesn’t do loops, rolls, or fly like a fighter jet. VC-10’s are welcome, why not Dominie’s?
Let’s face it, many pilots are so talented they can even make the potentially boring Chinook look like beating eggs is a secondary role.
It’s a shame about the pricing, I’ll be in Wolverhampton, staying with family, for the Cosford ding-dong on the 14th. Unfortunately I won’t be able to afford to visit Coventry too – which is a shame. I’m disabled.
I’ll be there on Saturday with my trust little Nissan 😀
On a lighter note, anybody remember the BOAC VC-10 film that was shown as a test transmission during the day on BBC2 in the late 60’s to early 70’s and has anybody got a copy of it??
I’ve made enquiries online about other BBC2 “test transmissions” and believe that they’re available somewhere. Whether this particular one is available, I don’t know.
Try asking over at the Digital Spy forums.
Its just the sort of seat you could use on the crowd line at an airshow!
Perhaps not technically the best, but certainly the most dramatic pictures I’ve ever taken back in March 2007 in south east Cornwall:
Hi all
Whats the cheapest camera I could get away with for quality pics?
All i have at present is a Kodak 7.1 megpix with 10x optical zoom digital camera.
Heading out to Tenerife end of march via Glasgow. Whats the score on taking Cameras on the plane.
Quality pics of what?
Always take mine on as hand luggage. I wouldn’t trust to luck in the baggage compartment. Having said that, if you have something more valuable, take that inside instead.
If I have my laptop with me, I’ll take that in it’s wheelie case, and my camera, and there’s just room for a change of clothes, just in case.
It looks like this aircraft was involved in another incident less than a year ago (June 08). An AAIB report was placed on line at about the 9th Feb this year.
A sad loss, my condolences to the pilot and his family.
Thanks for the explanations.
Great – but you need to get the aspect ratio correct. It’s obviously widescreen, but is playing at 4:3.
There are free fixes around the Internet for use with Windows Movie Maker that can help do the conversion.
Actually, though, I think YouTube have changed the standard to 16:9 anyway (which explains the black bars left and right on your videos and the black bars left, right, top and bottom on my older contributions) – and you might just need to get it off the camera (or other source) correctly.
Nice shots. Wish I’d been there.
Seems as though the top engine isn’t working properly – no shocks in the flame. Am I right about that?
