😀 😀 😀 So make that 45 minutes then! :diablo:
There is some very odd phraseology in that report: –
“his antique World War I replica airplane”
I’m sure the author meant “his replica of an antique World War 1 airplane”.
Yes I noticed that too for the first time ;I’ve only been watching it for 40 years (not continuously you understand), but I thought that the two decoy A/C were flashing nav lights to get the “jerrys” attention.
I doubt anyone would have had the time to casually reach out and switch lights on and off! Plus, they don’t appear to flash in the same manner as lights, but more like guns firing.
I’m sure Lancs didn’t have guns in the wingtips!
Lovelly shots Araman.
The Lynx shot poses a question though – is it climbing into a loop, or simply flying straight and level overhead?
Lovelly detail, colour saturation and clarity on them all.
I have recently set up a Photobucket account and would appreciate advice on how to post the occasional photo on the forum website. I am not very PC literate or a whizz with photo software so please keep any help at an understandable level.
Many thanks,

There are two methods.
1. Hosted by this website: –
When you start a post, look below the [Submit Reply] button, there is a [Manage Attachments] button – click on it and it guides you through the process of searching for the image on your computer, and uploading it. This creates a small thumbnail image, which, when you click on it, expands to full size.
Disadvantage of this is that you have very limited space to store attachments, Key don’t want their servers clogged up with huge numbers of images
2. Hosted by a 3rd Party such as your own webspace, or, as you have done, hosted by a service, “photobucket” is one such service.
You need the URL that displays the image, so the easiest way to get that is to either (a) use a url suggested by the service or (b) open the image and copy the URL from the address bar.
Back on this site, create a new posting, then click on the little mountain & sun. This will give you a popup that allows you to paste the copied URL. The url then appears in your post, and when previewed/submitted it displays the image.
Disadvantage: Images are displayed without a thumbnail, directly in the posting.
Advantage: You can post as many images as you like, both on the site and within the same post and thread. Every time you want a new image, just click on the little mountain/sun with the yellow sky, and put in the popup box the URL allied to the image.
All images should be less than about 745 pixels wide, to ensure that everyone can see them, with room for the borders of the website on even the oldest monitors around today.
Hope this helps, please let us know if you have any further queries.
It seems Robbo’s posts have been removed, either by him or the moderator.
I was merely trying to show that the image wasn’t out of focus, in defence of Albert.
If it was out of focus, I would not have been able to retrieve the detail.
I have always said that given a chance anyone can turn their hands to anything. I could do brain surgery, I may kill a few people on the way but in the end I think I would get the hang of it. Want to volunteer ? 🙂
According to some on here, a labotomy would be a distinct improvement. But I think I’ll take a rain check on your kind offer on this occasion!
But thanks anyway.
I’ve also learned tonight that there is a known problem with the command dial on S9500s. They are doing repairs on that FOC even if it is out of warranty.
You could ask them about that too.
They may allow you to email some examples of the problems you’re having with it.
I keep looking at your picture, and it seems to me as though the tail (and to a lesser extent the nose) is not in focus with the middle. Could this be some kind of concave/convex issue with the lens?
5 year old Canon 10D, 100-400L ISM and no tripod. EOS1d Mk3 should arrive in the next week or so.
For every reasonable one, there are at least 10 crap ones.
With hands as steady as that, have you considered brain surgery as a second hobby?
Wow, that’s one steady pair of hands you have there!
Or did you use a firmly planted/weighted tripod?
And exactly how many planes are there in the fourth Spitfire shot?
mmmm – Fuji have admitted in the past that there is a focussing problem on the S9500. You could ask them to take a look at it, if it is still in warranty.
They’ve since replaced it with the S9600 in an effort to resolve the problem.
(Handy tip – Fuji sell refurbished cameras on their website – which seem to be tweaked a smidgeon over standard “off the shelf” items. And if you wanted to upgrade, they also do part-exchange).
Rob, your attempts to oversharpen an out of focus image are laughable. Your continued insistance that it looks fine are similarly hilarious. Cut your losses and retire gracefully.
If you stuck to making your own comments, and didn’t continually make disparaging remarks about the opinions of others – then I’m sure we’d both be happier.
Have your own say, but all means – but I’d prefer it if you simply expressed your own and refrained from commenting on my opinions.
We don’t agree fine. Drop it.
Rob, if you think that looks OK then you really do need to pop down to the optician. It’s quite tedious to keep arguing that black is white when the rest of the world doesn’t see it that way.
Then do yourself a favour, and dont.
Rob, you can’t sharpen an image just to make it look in focus. That looks awful.
Most of Albert’s shots are slightly soft so I’d say shutter speed is the problem. I normally use 1/800 for fast jets.
I don’t agree that it looks awful sharpened a little.
He actually used 1/1000 on his original! Even faster than the 1/800 you advocate.
The full exif data is still intact in his originals.
