these guys figure that we in the west are “weak” because we would rather talk than act

Then they are mistaken. Right will prevail. Justice will come.

A cowardly act of sheer ********* that should not go unavenged>>

No, not revenge, that would make us as bad as them. We should seek justice, though.

My sincere condolences to all those affected in whatever way.

I think we should organise a do/shopping spree in London, those of us that don’t live there, to show our defiance (and get/do whatever cool stuff London has to offer, of course) and our solidarity.

BL has stated that he cannot match us militarily, but he can wreck economic warfare upon us, and we should do all we can to counter that.

    Don’t stay away.

I am sure I have very recently seen a picture of the Meteor with Turboprop engines – can’t remember if it was in a recent periodical, or a book. I’ll see what I can find.

I am in possession of such an item (hardly used). I may be persuaded to part with it!!

Will we be seeing you at Yeovilton, Culdrose (Yeovilton is really good on arrivals day – as I’m sure you know) or the Plymouth VE/VJ day celebrations?

I believe there are “Beer Tents” at these events 🙂

    with built in anti-shake mechnism

    You’ve seen my pictures then. 😀 😀

Thanks, looks like a good choice.

However, I took at look at my sigma lens yesterday, and it doesn’t look very good on the inside of the front lens – not oily, more like a puddle has dried up.

Don’t know if it can be opened, cleaned and reassembled, or even if it would be worth having professionally cleaned. 😮

I have a Sigma 100-300mm lens which goes with my Minolta Dynax 500si – neither of which I use any more because I have a Fuji Finepix S5000 digital camera.

I know that the Dynax should be capable of better photographs, but I find the immediacy of the S5000 better for me, and a whole lot cheaper to run – although I’m probably learning more about photography now that I have the S5000, and might be able to apply what I’ve learned to the Dynax.

Anyway, what I want to know is, can I get a digital D-SLR body that would fit my Sigma? Preferably one that takes xD memory too.

all the spotters wanted was to take a number and leave!!

Does anyone know why? I can’t think of a single reason for going out specifically to write down these numbers. I’m sure you could find out somewhere whether or not aircraft x visited place y on a specific date if it was of any importance anyway.

While much of that could be done at Kemble, to get to see the Lightnings a show a few miles out at sea would probably be the only way – but then again, where would they refuel?

    Vascillating Virgin was a suggestion….

or should I perhaps invest in a waterproof housing for the camera

    Probably both !!!

The weather on most airfields seems to go from one extreme to the other in moments, in my experience. Especially along the crowd line 🙁

My ND filter holder required – ermm – fixing (scoured out friction fitting) to my telephoto adapter – you know the Fuji one.

I’ve found you can get a cokin screw ring fitting that can be used on the standard lens hood that comes with the camera – but no teleconverter has a screw thread for fitting a filter 🙁

I did try getting some way to fit a filter between the lenshood and the teleconverter, but I couldn’t find a solution that would fit – because of the lip on the inside of the teleconverters mounting screw thread.

If anyone does have a more elegant solution than mine (which was simply to take a cokin filter holder, and make it friction fit around the outside of the teleconverter) then please let me know.

Kemble is near Cirencester, and there’s a different report for that. I did a search using the airfields postcode:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?id=2037

Sunday lives up to its name here.

Still looking for a lift. If anyone can help, please let me know.
