Real contrails might not be possible, but the Red Arrows (and many thousands of others) have been producing artificial ones for – well a long time anyway – by the simple expedient of using diesel smoke generators.

It might not be a perfect, but it might suffice.

The shutter speed is anoying when you freeze blades on a running engine because it’s too sunny!

I’m hoping to be able to cure that problem – or at least mitigate against it somewhat – with my Fuji S5000 by the simple expediant of having bought a cokin filter holder, which I have managed to fit to the front of my 1.5x Teleconverter. I should now be able to use ND filters (I’m getting a 4 and an 8) which should enable me to get much higher F numbers than the camera can manage normally. Trouble will be knowing which one to use for any given situation – or whether I should use both.

Unfortunately I no longer have a car, so I can’t get to anywhere except the deep southwest this year – and there are few airshows round here. 😡 🙁 😡

(Charitable help gratefully accepted 😉 )

Neat Image is a free download for non-commercial use.

Kick me if I’m being too cheeky:

Yea Crimson Skies has the same sort of comic book look about it.

That last one, while a bit noisy, looks more like a very evocative painting than a photograph – great look.

Can I be cheeky and recommend you sharpen it (I use the unsharp mask in Paintshop Pro 7) and then clean up the noise with something like Neat Image?

Yeah – loved it – reminded me of those Saturday morning Sci-Fi serials we had at the Penn Cinema (Wolverhampton) in the ’60’s – only much better.

140 In a slab fronted, slab sided SD1? Amazing I’d say.

Do any still exist (outside of a museum).

Knew I’d replied to one like that!
On this thread you mentioned the same chap http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=27522
And that query was answered there too. In addition I recently read something about the fact that the RAF didn’t fly Mosquitos off carriers at any time.

Dividends come from profits! So how come it’s gone bankrupt if there were profits to be distributed as dividends?
