It’s that well known typing error Valiant!
😀
Sorry, but I don’t think I can make that one. 🙁
Failing that, we usually have two open days a year, the first is April 23rd and the second is likely to be September. Its £50 and that gets you a flight in the aircraft of your choice, Dak in your case, plus a tour of the AA facilities.
Tom.
What choices are available? Meteor? 😀
My grandmother used to take in foreign students – Poles, Germans, French, Spanish, Koreans, Czechs, etc etc, including several Japanese students. They told her that their history lessons blacked out the period of 1939-45, and possibly even some of the time before that period.
Unfortunately, from what I’ve read and heard recently, it seems that attitude is taking hold here to. 🙁
Or a Clack.
Anyway – I’ve already said thank you on another thread – but no harm it saying it again – THANKS for a very memorable evening. I feel extremely priviledged to have had the opportunity to get “hands on” with such important and cherished machines.
I’m so happy, I can’t grin!!!!
Thanks Robbo.
A thought, is there a fee to attend the ground runs at EK on the 23rd? If so, how much?
Thanks.
extends to the mid 60s, when the last ‘real’ motor race took place
I think a certain James Gordon-Bennett would take issue with you on that one!
Not only is it absolutely indestructable (see Top Gear last year?), it fights back now!
A good home has now been found for it.
I don’t understand why you’re being so rude. I haven’t done anything wrong, and, frankly, I don’t need your advice. Thanks.
Who made you the Policeman?
Do yourself a favour Nick, if it doesn’t concern you, keep out of it. You’re behaving like a troll. This isn’t something I would normally associate with you, but there it is.
The Harrier was a historic aircraft the moment the first one left the ground.
Let’s not forget that a replacement should be along in the not to distant futue (JSF), and bigger and better carriers are being built to accommodate them. The RAF’s Harriers have been tasked to carry on with the SHARs role, haven’t they, until then?
We can only wonder what Dowding and Harris would say
My suspicion is that, as with many of the aircraft of the time, the ones you listed would be pressed into service regardless of their failings. More appropriate roles for the designs would have been found. Take the BP Defiant, for instance – great first day, lousy second, reasigned as a night figher, did okay from thereon in.
Perhaps, in retrospect, it might have been more polite if you had PMd me with your suggestion.
Not really enough time, is there had there been I would have done so.
I’m not trying to profit by it either. We actually pay on the door.
With regards to security, I have not been asked any questions concerning security – I expect that to be taken care of as/when we arrive. So I feel that isn’t my failing, really. The young lady I was going to bring is, in fact, of Chinese nationality.
I’ve no doubt if Norm has any queries upon reading this he’ll be in contact. It is, after all, the same medium they used to bring the event to our attention.
Have I done something to upset you?
Maybe they’ll tow a Spit & Hurri down The Mall behind tow trucks !!!!!
