I bet he’s got something better than Photoshop!
Wow a levitating dog!
Yea, Paintshop Pro!

Thanks.
Ahh it isn’t clear that “Nigsy” was proposed by Stephen Fry at all. Merely that Stephen has been noted as coming up with other names.
“Guy sometimes used to call his dog ‘Nigsy’, so I think that’s what we will call it,” Sir David told the Daily Mail newspaper. “Stephen has been coming up with other names, but this is the one I want.”
No, I don’t feel particularly strongly about the issue, really the post was mostly to say that I’d actually met somebody who had known the dog – a first for me.
The hypocrisy behind “I have discovered Gibson often used to call the dog ‘Nigsy’” I do find transparent and phoney.

I think we can rest in peace, knowing that the dog’s real name won’t be lost because the name is modified for this film. Unfortunately, we still live in intollerant times. There are plenty of sources which record the dog’s name correctly. Regardless of Mr Fry’s accuracy, the name won’t be lost in history, that is already firmly well written in journals that can reflect accuracy of that detail.
Where did you find this, anyway? I follow SFs tweets and occasionally visit his website.
There is a claim he flies his own vintage bi-plane – but that’s as far as I can get with regards to detail.
:D:D good one
Is it?? I dunno.
Do aero engines have a lambda sensor? If so, that could be dirty for faulty.
(Ducks now as RobAnt throws yet another of his rapidly diminishing supply of teddies – You know Rob you really should book for shows she will be at.)
I cannot go to Waddington, it is out of range. I live in Plymouth.
It is unlikely that it will be ready for Yeovilton next weekend, so I’ll probably just go to the enthusiasts photocall day on Friday. I haven’t been to the full show at Yeovilton for some time now, because it’s not comfortable there for me.
But if what happened at last years photocall event (ie nothing for several hours) happens this Friday, I may change my mind and go on the full show too. Of course, forwarned is forarmed in this instance.
But I feel for the Waddington crowd that were so disappointed. However, while we “old salts” that are used to going to airshows would usually check airworthy states of anything potentially show stopping before we leave home, the majority probably would not and short of a show cancellation is unlikely to be broadcast by the popular media – local radio stations, etc.
I remember last year I checked myself out of hospital to attend Fairford – only for it to be cancelled on the day. I felt such a fool. Fortunately, no great harm was done.

Repairs also have to be a task that can be performed by a 19 year old fresh out of tech school. There are no Phd Chemists maintaining F-22s.
Your sure about that? I’ve known of UK councils returning fleets of dustbin lorries back to the suppliers because the paint isn’t up to specification. I’m reasonably confident that the US employ the right people to do the right job. And often they have internal qualifications which are on a par, or superior to, civilian equivalents.
Sky News reported that both crew are believed to have escaped injury, although it doesnt say wheels up landing or eject
BBC have said it crashed into a hillside in Argyle – so wheels up is unlikely.
Check out http://www.dehavillandaviation.com/. Off the top of my head, displays at RNAS Yeovilton, RIAT, RNAS Culdrose, and Bournemouth are confirmed.
Thre’s nothing about Yeovilton or Bournemouth there.
However, I live in Devonport – Yippee!
Is that something which needs taking into account for next year do you think? I work closely with the organisers who are always wanting to hear feedback, so if you think it something which maybe got overlooked or could be improved upon I could certainly mention it.
As I say to anyone who misses out on a chance to see the old girl up-close and personal, if you are ever planning on passing one weekend and think you might like a good look, do please let me know as we’re more than happy to make time for visitors.
Cheers, Timbo
I’ve already been in contact with the events organisers by email, Tim. I don’t think you could do much more for disabled visitors to your own aircraft. It isn’t feasible to have a winch so we can go up and sit in the cockpit if we can’t climb the steps.
I’ve just deleted a large section of this post, where I rant on about toilets, disabled car parks in relation to disabled enclosures and punters claiming area’s equivalent to their patio’s, tents & windbreaks on the crowdline.
Edit: Haha, I was just thinking; wouldn’t it be great if there were only grandstand seating on the crowdline with stannah stairlifts? :D:D:D
Sorry – I probably would have if I’d been mobile, but my ability to move off the crowdline these days is limited. Maybe next time, if I can get a mobility scooter.
Regretfully not. I went on the Saturday with a friend who couldn’t make the Sunday. The Vulcan was in Volkel.
I won’t be making that mistake again, though!
