Do you know any early variant (because the guy was talkning about early active missiles, such as Phoenix) that was active?
And the proof behind this claim is….
The very fact that MiG 29 and Su 27/30 users still buys the R 27 :diablo: In fact, even in the latest Su 35 brochure issued by Sukhoi, the medium-range missile advertized is the R 27 😀
…Arent you forgetting something?
What ??????????The MiG 31 is, in your opinion equal with the F 22 ????????????
Your silly commentary is mindboggling. What is more amusing is the manner in which you put it whilst calling others “kids”.
The “kid” is for saying that the R 33 is active 😉
If anyone is interested, this is the brochure of the APG 63 (V) 3 from the Raytheon site: http://www.raytheon.com/products/stellent/groups/public/documents/content/cms04_017911.pdf
…The first active radar homing air to air missiles were also big and heavy, yeah i am talking about the AIM-54 and R-33, however with the arrival of the AIM-120 and new radars, multi target engagement technology has been increasing the number of targets that can be engaged simultaneously…
Kid, do your homework first; the R 33 is semi-active…
If the Russian AA-10s were really all that crap, neither the PLAAF or the IAF would have purchased thousands of those rounds. They obviously did live fire trials, checked them out, liked what they saw and purchased them.
The PLAAF and the IAF purchased thousands of the semi-active R 27 for a very simple reason: the much praised active R 77 is a little piece of crap…
Thanks, the reason I asked was becouse I keep seeing vague references to it, but every actual offer and procurement seems to be for the V3 (such as the F-15SG)
The Singapore F 15 (BTW this version is called F 15T not SG) will have the V 4 (that’s the same V3 antena, but with the Power PC processors of the APG 79)
Nice. Internal wiring is rotting away and they put a new radar in front of it.
I wonder how much weight savings this new radar brings. The first AESA for the F-15C added around 150kg compared to the standard fit requiring another ~250kg of ballast…
Nope. At least in the 170 F 15 C of the USAF the wirings are new, thanks to the APG 63 (V)1 upgrade; I can’t tell about the F 15 in the ANG with older APG 63/70. And the new antenna is light enough to get rid of tail balast.
I understand your admiration for the F-16, as it had a great past. However it has no future, as all developments on the platform has stopped long ago.
Could you name a fighter equivalent to the F 16 blk. 60?
What is missing is not linear thinking but the real fact the Russians relied on IRST systems a lot, these systems were capable of fire the AA-8 and AA-11 the later with a range of 35km.
You won`t get too much advantage is you are armed with the same weapons, it is true new radars can be useful when you have same weapons, however all the american fighters with the exception of the F-14 lacked optical and infrared detection systems.
You really don’t know what you’re talking about. There were thousands US fighters with IRST. Actually they were the first to put on fighter in 1961 on F 101 Vodoo. Every F 102 Delta Dagger, F 106 Delta Dart or F 4 Phantom (over 5000 built) had IRTS!
Under the best of conditions the F-15 will jam the MiG-29 radar, will launch the AIM-120 and the semi active radar missile will do the rest, leaving the F-15 plenty of time to leave from the battlefield.
The AIM 120 is active not semi active…
Modern F-16s and F-18s have the same capability that modern F-15s have and basicly none of these aircraft has fielded a weapon in the class of the Meteor with the exception of the Russians with their Su-35s or the Europeans with the Eurocanards.
When was Meteor “fielded”????? Do you know something that we don’t?
When did the Russains fielded a ramjet AA missile?????
BTW is there any Su 35 “fielded”?????
Do you have any contact with real world?
In the NG broschure (http://www.es.northropgrumman.com/ASD/brochures/airborne/AWACS.pdf) the range of original AWACs is “over 400km” (page 3 of 12), while thanks to the upgrade (page 5 of 12) the range is “twice the range of the original AWACS”, so over 800 km (probably limmited to high altitude targets by earth curvature)
When was the last time someone asked WHY would Rafale have a higher payload and 250 nm better range with 3 X 2.000 L than a F-35 CLEAN while flying at a similar cruising speed?
BS!
Anyway, it is obvious that people like Dranio only think in narrow perspective. What is the best in short-term for Poland and the rest of the Europe be screwed. And if it means spending the assets in USA while shamelessly harvesting the funds from EU programmes, then so be it.
At least two countries that received piles of EU money also operate F 16s: Greece and Portugal. Yet no one accused them to “shamelessly harvesting the funds from EU programmes” while “spending the assets in USA”.
At the end of the day, why to buy expensive European equipment when you can buy cheaper from US?
… While, the F-35B’s won’t have the payload or range of the F-35C, Super Hornet, and Rafale …
Even the B will have more range than the SuperHornet or Rafale. As for payload you are right only if you speak about the internal weapons bays; however in a non-stealth configuration…:D
Poor F-15 Pilots………….one day your flying one of the premier Air Superiority Fighters and the next day your just fodder!;)
The F 15 flying along the raptor is an E model … so the F15 pilots where still flying the best fighter-bomber around…
I get your point. I only beg to differ here – I said it LOOKS sluggish if you ask me. This is no way a concealed *the plane is a piece of crap*, it is simply so. The display routine is rather boring, then with some few very impressive stunts as sferrin has pointed out but these require rather cautious eye of the beholder, because they are definittely not as eye-catching as Flanker helicopter rolls. Could be simply attributed to the pilots who are given precise instructions and cannot do more than that.
Generally, every idiot can see than Flanker is maneuvrable as hell but it requires someone at least slightly in the know to recognize Raptor as being comparable/equal/superior – make your pick.
I heard the same comment a few times. Here is a link (i’ve already posted in the F 22 thread): http://www.f22-raptor.com/media/video_gallery/videos/F22_AirShow_Langley.wmv Pay atention at : 0.09 and 1.07 that’s a pitch rate that don’t looks sluggish to me; also at 4.21 a cobra turn (?) pretty abrupt
