    Greekdude, Please could you comment on the beach and surrounding areas as in terms of a “holiday destination”. The reason I ask is that we are thinking of a family holiday in the carribean in the next year or so. Are their plenty of things to do etc away from the excitement of the runway, i.e are the kids gonna enjoy it etc. I would love to go thier just to experience what you have excellently captured in your photographs. Bottom line is, a holiday thier is quite expensive from the UK and I will be up to my neck in it if I drag my family on thier “dream” holiday and it turns out to be a “spotting spectacular” !!!

    Yes I agree security is very tight these days but for good reason. I am sick of having people ‘down the pub’ commenting on how they feel threatened by armed guards at airports and baggage checks taking alot longer. The bottom line is unfortunately it’s the world we live in these days. Ideally we could live in a world without… lets say Anti Virus software or firewalls on our computers, but as there are a small section of people out thier hell bent on attempting to ruin lives/property etc for what ever reasons they believe. We can’t ultimately stop things like this, we merely can help to prevent them and if that means armed guards and “over active” baggage and security checks at airports then so be it. I and im sure you all agree that we are happy to “sacrifise” extra time at check in etc in the safe knowledge that our own and everybody elses safety is the utmost priority.

    Yes Steve, Liverpool airport has been named the “John Lennon” airport. I think these “rebranding experts” have got thier work cut out when it comes to something like an airport. You are never gonna please everybody (i.e. Liverpool airport – Whatabout Paul McCartney or Ringo and George).

    My view….. Why can’t people leave things as they are. Our culture is at the moment to rename things! (and pay alot of money) For instance… here in Britain, Royal Mail, quite obvious what they do. But someone decided to rename it “Consignia” at the tune of £3m of branding. All to be changed back again a year later. British Steel was the same, just incase people got the wrong end of the stick in what they did, they rebranded and became “Corus”. Oh yeah great one there!!!

    We have all become accustomed to East Mids airport, so why the hell do we need to change it……

    I suppose Clough will keep both sides of the M1 happy (sheep lovers), O’neill just nottm n’ leicester side…. Maybe even the Archie Gemmill terminal where to get to it you have to weave in and out of static KLM planes !! 😛

    I looked at BA for booking three days in New York around December time this year. The cheapest fare I found was £257 inc. Taxes etc. That was from Manchester. I think if you are prepared travel ‘between’ days rather than specify an exact date then the likleyhood is that you will be able to get quite cheap fares. Also try looking at going midweek if atall possible.
