I think Kingsford Smith’s ‘Southern Cross’ is in Brisbane International.

So, up to 1000kg – a ton each aircraft. Just think how much fuel that could save if every airliner in the world were unpainted!

Has anyone noticed the annoying tendency of British scriptwriters (screenwriters?) to keep repeating the name ‘George’ whenever there’s a George in the film or TV series?

Smiley’s People, and its companion series Tinker, Tailor… were some of the worst examples. Also George and Mildred suffered the same fate.

What is it that causes this? Any psychiatrists out there who know why?

Yes, it may be an abberation on my part that I keep noticing it!

I remember a radio or TV announcer referring to the Hastings on a visit to Eagle Farm (now Brisbane International) as an ‘RAF Bomber’. Probably because of those DV panels under the nose!

Could it be an RNZAF Hastings? They flew all over that area then. I saw them many times in Darwin. Refuelled them too.

4000HP – that’s almost as much as the 28-cylinder radials used in the Globemasters!

I think Qantas starts revenue services to Heathrow in January

    I hope nothing falls off…

On my trip to Norway in September, I had 4 flights with SAS, and every one was on time!

They use various models of 737. If I remember aright, my trips were on models 400, 500 and 600.

By the way, their baggage handling was perfect, too. I arrived at Heathrow on my return, visited the bog and walked down to baggage reclaim – and my bag was there in front of me on the carousel!

One would hope that checks are made on all applicants. Just applying online would leave the system open to the very people they are trying to protect us from!

Yes, that’s an obvious point I know. But, bearing in mind the many cockups in the public sector in the past few (well, ten) years, it is a point that should be made.

    A Galaxy to play with?

Thanks for being the only one to have a go instead of wandering off into Startroopers territory. But if you had noticed, I deliberately put USAAF not USAF!

Gun turrets is the answer (B17 and so on). Every time they were zapping the enemy, I couldn’t help thinking of WWII gun turrets…
