I strongly doubt this, Singapore hasn’t even put out RFIs yet if I remember correctly.

The doom and gloom brigade at it’s worst, I expect no cuts annouced today and I doubt any will materialize over the next months.

Looks simular the german EGV (EinsatzGruppenVersorger) multi replenishment ship (task force supplier)

Yes, a bit like that, though the Royal Navy has a slightly different system with tankers and replenishment ships being differentiated more. The design I posted is a contender for the tanker replacement. The two fast fleet tankers are very new and don’t need replacing in the next 20 years, however around 6 tankers are supposed to be acquired to replace the small tankers and the support tankers. The replenishment ships will probably be replaced by large logistics vessels, with a lot of helicopter capacity.

Sorry but what type of boat is that is it a Merchant Navy ship?

A tanker for replenishment at sea operations, the design is the Aegir design by BMT Ltd., a contender for the MARS programme. 🙂

Here is an optimist’s view. The right programmes have been initiated and are going forward, this is the most important thing for the Royal Navy. What we now need is the right numbers. Let’s not forget that with the CVF programme the Royal Navy is returning into the full size aircraft carrier league in which there are very few members (USA, UK, France, Russia and India.).

Some of the more important programmes.

    1. Two massive new aircraft carriers which each individually are arguably better than the three Invincible – the number of 2 is very certain
      http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/e4/2006_CVF_STOVL.jpg
    2. Excellent Astutes that are in my opinion the best SSNs in the EU and among the best worldwide – 4 ordered with 7 or 8 realistically possible
      http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/b9/Astute1cropped.jpg
    3. Darings that arguably have the best AAW radar and missiles on earth right now – 6 ordered with 8 becoming increasingly likely
      http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/9b/HMSDaring.jpg
    4. MARS – parts of this are being fast tracked, especially the tanker requirement, of which 6 will probably be acquired.
      http://media.bmt.org/bmt_media/bmt_images/33/A18R_OUT_FINAL.jpg
    5. S2C2 – the escort replacement programme – 18 C1s and C2s have been mooted
      http://navy-matters.beedall.com/images/thales-f2020.jpg
    6. MCMV replacement with OCPVs – 8 are likely as an initial buy
      http://navy-matters.beedall.com/images/vt-c3-concept.jpg
    7. More C3s to replace survey vessels – total number might be somewhere between 14 and 18

I will be very happy for the Royal Navy if it has following fleet in 2030.

    • 2 CVF carriers with F35Bs
    • 8 Darings
    • 8 Astutes
    • 10 C1s
    • 8 C2s
    • 18 C3s
    • 18 Archer patrol boat replacements
    • 2 LPDs
    • 4 LSLs
    • 1 or 2 LPHs
    • 20 RFA support ships
    • 10 various ships such as HMS Scott
    • 4 SSBN replacements

How many QRA fighters base are there in Uk, Spain or France?

The UK has two, one in the south and one in the north.

IIRC their Tornados are technically/partially/kinda ex RAF. They were machines that were ordered for the RAF but were then sold straight of the production line to the Saudis as part of the end of the cold war peace dividends. I am sure somebody will correct me if I am wrong.

Yes, but the UK reordered all aircraft it diverted to Saudi-Arabia, the diversions were by the way only the first X aircraft, the later units (total 120 Saudi Tornados) got integrated into the normal production plan.

BAE Systems will final assemble 24 in the UK and 48 in Saudi-Arabia from what we know at the moment, the major components will be built in Europe for all 72. The OCU and OEU will probably be stationed in the UK for the initial deliveries. The first two Eurofighter Typhoons for Saudi-Arabia are apparently already in the final assembly in Warton. The Tornado upgrade deal is also going ahead smoothly, the development in the UK and the modifications are being done in Saudi-Arabia.

The UK-Saudi Typhoon contract has been signed by the UK and it has been sent to Saudi-Arabia where it will be signed this or next week, so reports the Times newspaper.

There’ll probably be a competition next year for 60 medium heliopters, I certainly think the EH101 should be bought, estimated cost of the procurement is by the way 1.5 billion pounds, so enough money for having 60 additional EH101 bought, it would seem anyway.
