Regarding the CAPTOR-M performance, the two sources I just looked up (Eurofighter-Starstreak and Airpower.at) talk of “well over 160km” for fighter sized aircraft and “up to 185 km for supersonic fighters” (translated from German) respectively.
You forget the most important

What’s that? A Citroen? Anyway, have a look at this baby, the price difference is well, hum, let’s say noticeable. 😀

Holy sh!t! I was expecting Melissa Theuriau but I had to see that creation of hell.
I so agree with you. 😀
The integration of the ASRAAM on the Harrier GR7/GR9 was dropped some time ago.
@arthuro: Funny then that Dassault was in talks with Norway as late as April 2006, one month before it was kicked out. I’d find it highly weird if Dassault voluntarily went out of the Norwegian competition if you consider that Eurofighter and Gripen will get some development money from Norway.

I’m sorry but for this part I’ve to agree with foofoone. Where did you get that the Rafale was present for Austria, Norway or Greece ?
I don’t know about Austria (I believe the Mirage 2000 was offered) or Greece, but Norway seems to be a fact.

Thanks JWCook! So we could see EJ230s perhaps for Tranche 3 Eurofighter Typhoons.
and so on, each of these gave better performance or easier production, but you will notice that the published thrust figure of 20,000lbs have not changed
😀
Typhoon is the chosen ‘fall back’ should JSF be cancelled: Netherlands, Turkey, etc.
I believe Turkey has indicated it will buy some Eurofighters if money is available after the next election in 2008. This is in line with the Turkish government and the Turkish DPA wanting a split buy. It was reported in Defense News at the time.
Concerning supercruise, http://www.eurofighter.com, the official website says:
Auch ohne Nachbrenner-Einsatz ist ein Marschflug mit ca. Mach 1,5 möglich (Supercruise).
Translation: Even without Afterburner use supercruising at the speed of about Mach 1.5 is possible.
This is in the EF for Austria section, the part called “Luftüberlegenheitsrolle” (Air Dominance Role).

It doesn’t however say with what load. By the way, are any growth engines in development for the Eurofighter?
CAESAR uses European T/R modules. I think they’re made at Ulm.
Yes, at the same facility where e.g. the T/R modules for the MEADS are made.
Maybe considering that all of us aren’t aware of the friendship between both of you may help consider my position ?
Since when does one need a friendship to pull ones leg? Well I don’t anyway.
I’m not whining, but the fact is someone made a non “fan ish” comment on the EF and then you enter and say he isn’t a Eurocanards fan but a Rafale one. A good way to imply his comment on the EF is biased don’t you find ? Then this same guy sees a need to justify himself about his “EF fanish attitude”, surprising isn’t it ?
I very rarely “discredit” someone for a remark like “Eurofighter’s crap” or anything like that, even foofone I just call a “clown” which is a lot less than what some French posters called him, the remark to flex was friendly banter nothing else, so get over it and stop whining.
I believe I posted this article here already. Though nice pictures.:D Never mind.
No, Rob, you’re just trying to kill the messenger instead of the message, or to put it in a more “politically correct” way : you’re trying to discredit his comment on the plane by saying he’s biased. Really a poor behaviour. Or I may seriously lack humor. Who knows ?
You lack humour. What are you trying to say? That Flex is a grand aircraft engineer, having flown both and knowing so much about it that his one comment leads me to “discredit” him but I don’t bother with all the others. How ridiculous, get yourself some humour and stop whining about a bit of banter. 😡
Jacko, you talk about 2000+ modules for AESA… I’ve only read about 1600+… Should i be updated ?
I know what you’re trying. 😎 Don’t drag the discussion into here. 😀 This is a “Eurofighter’s best, everyone else is crap” thread. :diablo:
Okay then to answer your question, the last thing I heard was that the CAESAR was to have around 1500 T/R modules, but if this actually fully exploits all the room or if there are other T/R modules under development to get more into it I don’t know. How many will go into the RBE2 AESA and I once heard it wasn’t going to use GaN, what’s the latest on this?
I really hope that someone will write, here, every little issues the Typhoon has had during its development, and, why not, all its current problems…
Oh come on TMor, don’t be silly, you know as well as I do that the Eurofighter Typhoon has no problems at all! 😀
@Super Nimrod:
Bad thing (well for some) is that the US has a F22 “light” in the form of the F35! 😉 I think the Eurofighter would do exceptionally well if it managed to exceed 1500 produced aircraft. Though I do expect the production run to go over 1000 produced aircraft eventually.
