Seems the Brits like taking up valuable deck space with islands……..look at the CVF….TWO of the things!
Actually this is a very clever thing to do, if one is hit by an SSM, the other one can take up the main control and command function.
Well this is what Rolls-Royce says for the years 1985-2004:

I think it’s a great idea, carrying five Storm Shadows 10000 kilometres! 😀
Just wanted to say what Arthur said, just without that tennis bit. 😉
Ah, okay! Thanks. I’ll try to clarify the eurofighter R&D. 😀
To Kovy:
Rafale development : €10.1 billion
eurofighter development : €21.6 billionOK it’s “only” twice more
I doubt your figures very much: UK R&D cost is 4.4 Billion pounds = 6.6 Billion Euros (1998), German R&D is 7 Billion DM = 3.5 Billion Euros, together that is 10.1 Billion Euros for 66% of the total R&D —–> that makes it a total of 15.3 Billion Euros.

Also I heard very often, for example FlugRevue that French industry paid 25% of Rafale R&D, whereas your figure is only government R&D so it might well appear less, but in fact it might be very similar.
Steve Touchdown is right. Flugrevue June issue says that 2005 10 and 2006 11 Rafales will be delivered.
so it means that once the production hits its peak they would assemble 1 aircraft per day??
No, it takes BAE SYSTEMS 6 weeks to assemble a Eurofighter, the JSF will take probably as long for LM, but what they mean is that one will roll out a day as they are building so many at the same time that every day one will have finished its 5-6 week assembly. 😀
OK calm down!! I was just poining out its geographical location, that had not to do with the grants!
Jeez
lol I’m sorry. 🙂
MME said Cheshire, Broughton is in Wales, and yes the UK sadly
Well without UK grants (which are mainly English) to Airbus UK it wouldn’t have come to Wales in the first place!

All told, the C-Series programme is valued at £1.07bn, but the plan is for Shorts to secure £600m of the total workload.
That would involve the company in the design and manufacture of the wing, engine nacelles and tail units of the new aircraft.
If this is true then Shorts would have the largest part to play in the CSeries programme with a workshare of 56%.
I hope the U214 will win, the Germans build the best smallish submarines. 🙂
The Hawk and the alphjet are both trainers and both originated at about the same time, as to the rest of your well post, I’ll try not to start laughing.
Eurofighter will probably make a new bid to Singapore very soon. source: FT.
Beautiful helicopters and the camouflage is great too.
Only the manufacturing of some parts for the first five pre-production/T&E examples:
Thanks for the clarification.
