It’s something you’ll always remember saw kermit weeks’s fly years ago while still with CWH think i’ve got a video of it somewhere
Errr correct me if i’m wrong but didn’t Lancasters take part in the bombing of Berlin after those Heinkels bombed London by mistake that was during the Battle of Britain
I’ll take two
Lancaster MK II
TBM 3E Avenger (actually found some old fire bombers listed for sale today no prices)
Spitfire any MK
Hurricane any MK
Mosquito
Basically any WWII fighter/bomber
Having been a member of the CWH (not anymore) i remember when the Lanc was still under restoration it was discussed about trips the Lanc would make when airworthy one of the concerns was to try and keep the old girl flying as long as possible something that a trip acroos the pond would drastically effect and secondly it costs thousands of dollars to fly the Lanc on it’s normal airshow circuit not to mention what it would cost to send her to Europe there are just too many variables involved in undertaking a project like this not too mention the possibility of mechanical failure while over the water it’s just too risky to jeaopardize over 10 years of restoration work and funding on trip across the pond
need some pics of her folding her wings always a crowd pleaser i know used to crew CWH Avenger before they lost her in that hangar fire back in 93′ ever have any problems with the wing lock pin engaging before wing fully extended happened quite frequently on CWH Avenger
Guess no ones interested in increasing potential Mosquito population LOL 😀
Hey Britisih according to article i just read FM159 should have run engine by Aug 05 that comes straight from FM 159 site
Sorry mate Good luck with your search tho
Guess it depends on how much it cost’s too prep and ship the Stang to the US there’d be no doubt that it would be a welcome addition to a once in a lifetime gathering i plan on taking the trip out to Reno myself next year just to see all those Mustangs and can you imagine the sound of all those Merlins running at once if i recall the largest number of Mustangs that i’ve personally seen fly was 12 and that was quite a site i hope they can pull it off
Before sending PA474 to Germany how about bringing it to North America especially since the CWH are extremly picky about where they fly their Lanc i Can’t think of one US stop she’s made but if it’s a rare bird in the US that the CWH wants to see they usually get it for their airshows but getting back to the the topic a t hand i’m not so sure it would be a good idea to fly PA474 over Germany as it would be akin to flying any German bomber over London it just brings back to many painful memories my father still tells me to this day of being moved out of London due to the Jerry bombings unfortunately there are too many painful memories on both sides why do you think the Swaztika was banned in Germany
thanks to all i’l be in touch
You can teach monkeys to fly better than that
Anybody who’s seen The Battle of Britain knows where i’m coming from with above title
It happens it happened a lot during the war pilots were simply preoccupied and made a simple mistake to ERR is human and no one’s perfect i hope that the FAA does find that it was a mechanical problem unfortunately for the pilot though he was a flying a CAF aircraft and they don’t have the best safety record when it comes to their aircraft please correct me if i’m wrong but i seem to remember something happening to their P-82 Twin Mustang and other various aircraft one would tend to thin ktho that if it is mechanical it would more than likely be hydraulic failure of some kind
YAY SOMEONE FINALLY TOLD THE DW CHANNEL OFF ONLY GUESS IT’S A LITTLE LATE NOW THOUGH SORRY ABOUT ALL THIS YELLING I APPEAR TO BE DOING BUT CANT SEEM TO GET CAP LOCKS OFF
anything can be saved if you have enough time and money to do so i live not too far from MAAM (Mid Atlantic Air Museum) i dont how many of you are familiar with the project they’ve undertaken and what they had to start with but they are in the process of returning a Northrop P-61 Black Widow to the air so yes your Lightning can be saved hardest part is going to be getting an engine for her if the DOD will let you have one IT REALLY BURNS ME UP THOUGH TO SEE SOME OF THE RESPONSES THAT YOU HAVE WRITTEN IT MAKES ME SICK TO THINK THAT THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO THE HISTORIC AIRCRAFT OF WWII I CHALLENGE SOMEONE TO SAVE IT EVEN IF THEY CAN’T DO ANYTHING WITH IT AT PRESENT AT LEAST FIND IT A HOME I DON’T KNOW THE NAME OF THE ORGANIZATION I’M SURE SOME OF YOU CHAPS DO SOMEONE GET IN TOUCH WITH THE GROUP THAT OPERATES TWO TAXIABLE LIGHTNINGS SEE IF THEY CAN SAVE THIS RARE MK2 WHAT IS IT WITH ME AND MKII/2’S LOL
