Does anyone remember the Phantom fourship put up by 74 sqn at one of the Fairford RIATs (’92?)?
Fantastic sight, I recall one of them dropping its chute canister when landing on arrivals day, it had to do a ‘bolter’ and burn off fuel before landing later without the chute.

I remember that occasion!! It was RIAT ’91. The chute cannister laid on the begining of the runway for ages!!! Even during the arrival of a B-1B!!
Eventualy it was picked up by someone who was just passing by and wondered what a “thing” was doing there….

    Must have the slides somewhere….

    Another small contribution,

25th Anniversary Phantom at Greenham Common 1983, F4Js at Fairford, sunset shot at Leuchars.

    Don’t wanto be pedantic…, but those aren’t F-4J’s….;)
The F-4-J lacked the radar warning receiver on top of the tailsurface and had a “slightly” different colour grey….
