Suprised that Red Ken hasn’t suggested allowing the Reds to perform, but only on the conditions that all aircraft used pay the daily congestion charge for entering the city center airspace, and that all aircraft involved conform to his new LEZ criteria.
If the Reds are considered ‘ too British’ Im sure that Cuddly Ken could find some handicapped, single parent Botswanan/Afghan, lesbian immigrants to ride shot gun in the backseats of each Hawk…just to add a multi-cultural feel to the whole display.

Thats definately a talent you have there Rob!
As already requested, have you anymore prints/scans, that you may wish to share with us?
Very saddened by the news of both accidents.
My thoughts go to the family and friends of those lost to both truly sad and horrific accidents.
Probably ours, she was up on wednesday.
Tom
The very same graceful old lady that was at Upottery a few weeks back.:D
Well they have to spend there easily earned energy dollars somehow. Russia is kind of like a terminally ill person who just won the lottery. They are sitting on top vast riches of natural resources yet their population is aging and plummeting, thus they may as well spend the money whilst there are still people to do it.:D
Better that the Russians are using their own energy sources, rather than invading foreign countries under false claims to then plunder them of their energy sources.;)
I thought that the Navy put on a great show!
Both myself and my Dad thoroughly enjoyed our day out, thanks to the generosity of:
http://www.militaryairshows.co.uk/listing.htm
where I won our tickets in a competition organised by them.
My highlight was the ‘ barnstorming ‘ display, proper back to basics stuff.
Would just love to fly in a Bucc and/or a Dakota ( espescialy the ADT Dakota with me being suited up to jump)
Flown in already:
Chipmunk ( lots of times)
Nimrod
Hercules
DH Rapide
Wessex
Chinook
Puma
Gazelle
(The Air Cadets where good to me 😀 )
I dont believe it was a good use of lottery money, and I do believe this money could have been better spent on other projects.
I hope by that remark, you ment that the money would be better going towards assistance for elderly service men and woman, restoration of one of the Dunkirk rescue boats and such funds, and NOT being wasted on ruddy drop in centres for ethiopian lesbians living in inner-city ‘ recreation’ groups.
Lottery money is ‘ thrown away’ on an awful lot of ‘ useless’ causes.
Funding the Vulcan goes towards showing that Great Britain ONCE was just that, Great, and not the festering pile of political correctness/Big brothers watching you and health and safety that it has now sadly become.
Was just about to drive out my works car park to go home for lunch, when I looked up and saw a glorious Grey/white ( RAF transport liveried) Dakota flying low and heading for, I assume, Exeter Airport.:D
It’s a bit like the millenium dome of aircraft restoration:diablo:
Hardly, its not a hair brained scheme, or a complete and utter waste of public money.
Atleast with the Vulcan back in the air, people will see their pennies doing a good job, rather than helping to build an empty, over sized wendy house.
Whats the Shack mk1 nose like these days?
The Shack still smells just like the interior of an aircraft should.:D
My little girls loved sitting in the pilot seat, the only thing ruining the experiance, well for me anyway, was the loud soundtrack being played of a dogfight in the background!
She still looks OK, apart from being in need of a very good clean to rid her of dust, and maybe a touch up here and there with some black paint on the flight controls.
Despite that and having god knows how many kids ( and adults) trying to ‘fly’ her like a fighter, shes holding up well.
And I dropped hints all day long to my missus about the Gannet and Wessex needing new homes, but she was having non of it.
Then to top that she deleted the photos I took of them to make way for a couple of snaps of the kids eating ice creams!
Some serious re-training is in order for her!
I was at Flambards this week. Both aircraft looked to be in a good all round condition, no visable signs of corrosion ( that I could spot ) however the paint on the underside of the Gannet was peeling quite heavily, and all her tyres where flat, and looked like they had been for a far amount of time.
Its a shame that they want to dispose of these aircraft, as I can remember visiting Flambards when it was ‘ Flambards Aeropark’, and yes that was several years ago now.
When I visited the park a couple of years back and they still had a buccaneer and a sea hawk ( ?) on display outside, where these scrapped or donated to good causes?
My arrogant, self centered, selfish views on this subject are:
A) How on earth can somebody be stupid enough to buy a house next to an airfield and then moan at a later date about the noise coming from the airfield
( airfields = aircraft, aircraft = noise, hardly rocket science is it?)
B) The local council should be supporting the airfield as (1)The airfield was there long before any current moaning neighbours and (2) surely the airfield gives employment to people ( employment means more income for the council and is financial beneficial to the people employed).
I run a small family business on an INDUSTRIAL estate, manufacturing stone and granite. We have operated on this site for 27yrs and our type of business has been present there for 40 yrs.
In the last 5 years we have had countless visits from the local council regarding complaints ranging from ” too much noise” to ” to much dust blowing from the yard” to ” the factory looks out of place for the area, therefore there must be a fault with the planning permission”.
All this trouble stems from 2 complainants, both of who retired to the area from miles and miles away.
The council, who to be fair to them, have always been helpful to us, always maintain that we are sited on an industrial estate, and therefore we are only carrying out our normal day to day business. They have also also had a site discussion with the complainants and told them that they knew there was an industrial site across the road, so why did they buy the houses if the industrial site would be an issue?
This whole episode, wether it be Kemble Airfield, or my local industrial site, just highlights the lack of common sense diplayed in this country by people on a whole.
If people are not playing the PC card, then they are displaying a huge lack of common sense and thats usualy accompanied by the’ compensation culture’ claim at a later date.
PC my reply may not be, but quite simply, ” if the noise from the airfield is too much, shut up, put up or move you dip-sh#ts”.
Every time a detachment arrived at ‘tiri’, everyone received the same old briefing about ‘ it isn’t here, dont take pictures, don’t talk about it’ etc etc.
I spent two weeks there in ’87 with the ATC, and on our way to be issued with our khakis on the first day, the U2, that wasnt there, took off, and the RAF corpral that was guiding us to the stores told us that the aircraft that never took off, and was never there, should never be photographed, although he said that we where free to take photos of the sky in the general direction of all the jet noise if we wished.
Whilst we where there, a UK Army service man, and his daughter, if I remember correct, where both shot dead by Turkish terroists, after which all our trips off the SBCA, ment that we had to have all the curtains drawn on our coach. There was also a very large amount of helicopter activity during the nights, far too much for it to be just the two SAR Wessex’s and whilst taxing out to the runway for our flight home, there where about 25 US Black Hawks ‘ hidden’ by the brush just out of sight of the air terminal and control tower.
