The Avenger was John Dibbs’ camera ship of choice years back. It was also very useful as a movie camera ship during its stay at the OFMC I can confirm.

Big enough for a party in the back too!

I think the late Spencer Flack rates a ‘thumbs up’ for his efforts in the early 80s.

There were more projects that the afficionado’s out there will know more about.

Could it have been John Fairey in G-AIDN?

Indeed I do and I regret to say he has passed on. He was a great source of inspiration to a young lad along with the likes of Frank Carroll, Dave Graham, Phil Bowles, Malcolm Trussler, Jack Smith etc. I wouldn’t be where I am today without their moral support in those days.

A glass of port or two after lunch and I might just dig around for some Speke reminiscences!

    Welcome to the forum!

I was based at Liverpool in the mid 60’s as a tea boy/ops assistant for British Eagle and I remember well the Auster being worked on up there. I think the Eagle Flying Club was headed up by a Captain Colin Stevens – one of the London based Viscount skippers in those days. I flew in the Dove a couple of times between Dundee and Glasgow(?).

Being somewhat impecunious in those days, plus having kept on the move all my aviation life, I do not have any colour pics I can think of.

Folk on here are a great bunch and a worldwide fund of knowledge on aviation subjects and will inevitably point you in the right direction tho’.

    Best regds

No mention of IAC161 as a possible training mount for him in ’05? Yes it is a tad behind schedule but it is going to be busy busy busy next season!
