Think the Convair B36s could stay up a wee while too. Wikipedia quotes 40 hrs unrefuelled (if they are to be believed!).

The Land Girls Spitfire sequence worked very well. Film Crew great bunch to work with and very receptive to suggestions which they incorporated. Unfortunately the ‘office’ c*ck*d up and gave credits to people who were thousands of miles away and omitted to include those who had slaved away 😡 At least it was nice to be in close proximity to the ‘land girls’;)

Shame the picture wasn’t better received by the public.

Quote: The Viscount hitting the terminal incident would have been the time when British Eagle’s G-AMOE suffered a siezed mainwheel brake while taxying and swung round into a doorway with the proverbial sickening crunch.

Think it was a Cambrian Airways Viscount and I think it was being taxied by the engineers, if it is the same incident.

PS I was there shortly after it happened!

PPS Thread drift but does anyone remember the Connie sitting on its bottom after the fag run from Dublin?

Make sure you target the right aircraft for the route. Average payload (passengers + bags) over what distance? In this day and age you might be better off with an older turboprop bought at a lower price and then spend some money on a sensible cockpit upgrade.

With what you save on the capital cost go out and spend decent money on a well-qualified and motivated pilot that doesn’t want to head to the airlines.

PM me if you want any more top tips

IIRC, it’s been mooted a couple of times before but display pilots aren’t particularly keen on the idea.

dhfan is quite correct. Think they would all prefer you contribute to RAFA or perhaps a few coins into a ‘good cause’ restoration project such as the Blenheim etc.

    Nice thought but ………..

To do the job of the day….probably the Mk XlV

To have sheer unadulterated, exhilarating fun….A Mk lX with a half load of fuel.

    Equal to a Mk V I suppose.

Smudge is currently taking a break from the Lysander in building 66 as he is on secondment to work on the dark projects inside “Area 51”. In reality, whilst working on the Lysander he was just not able to make enough noise, bend enough metal, or bang his beloved hammers about enough to satisfy his cravings. 😀

Which reminds me…..has the recently arrived packing case from ******* been opened yet?
