For me the SR/71 but my father reckons 9 Lightnings at Farnboro in the 60’s was unbeatable as the compression stopped him from breathing.

I was there also. It was pretty damned impressive. I think my hearing went on a downward curve from that day! It was the most incredible sight to see them take off in a stream and seemingly climb ‘near vertical’ – one after the other.

I wonder if there is any film out there of the event?

Roobarb you are quite correct. Alex flew on the first sortie after which Karel Bos then jumped in for the photo sortie.

If I told you which airfield I was physically next to now then it would pose some interesting logistics and range problems however I take your point! :p
