A source of Plessey Breeze plugs here
“P” bulbs are what fit in these holders, I have quite a few lying around in the garage, what voltage do you require? and how many?
I was one of the guys who on a fitters course at Halton 73-74 helped remove a wing from a Gnat, I was at the heavy end and got washed down with OM15 when the wing was lowered from the fuselage.
Latest Update
Another couple of volunteer engineering days have been set up to progress XR724. For details check out the LA website
Was interesting reading about reclaiming silver from negatives, shouldn’t have thought that it would be worth the effort. Takes me back to the days when working at a processing lab, we had a silver reclaiming device which from what I remember was 4 carbon electrode rods passing current through the film developer tank solution, which deposited 99% pure silver from the solution onto a stainless steel impeller, which was later chipped off with a hammer. This was obviously on a larger scale to individual negatives, and was very profitable.
Years back, took one of the Virgin balloon flights around the Derbyshire area, was a good experience and enjoyed it. Part of the deal was that you had to help inflate the balloon, then after the flight deflate it and help pack it away ready for transport back to where the flight started. It was not cheap, but we got a pair of binoculars each to keep, and a glass of champers at the end.
Military pottery usually had an arrow stamp
The Hangar has nothing to do with XR724, she was turfed out of there years back.

Lovely shots again, really enjoying the ones from dogman as they are so evocative of the airfield of that era, nice to see the tower in its earlier state, and always nice to see more Canberra TT.18s, especially the one with the target flare deployed.
Lightning, would love to hear more about your time there, you’re dead right about Newquay, certainly back then.
I have a bit more written on St Mawgan here bottom of left hand column, a pdf of my RAF career in brief
Have just spent an hour or so reading through events at St Mawgan, very interesting too. St Mawgan was my first operational unit straight out of mech training as an aircraft electrician in 1971. Arrived on the August bank holiday, was given accommodation, dumped my gear, and legged it back home to Scotland as everyone else had gone for the weekend.
Was sent to work in the E and I Bay and doing mundane tasks like checking out the Nimrod black box wires, good way of finding out which actuator was duff. Had my RAF flight experience here, in a 42 Squadron Nimrod, Swinderby ran out of aircraft and time for all of us recruits.
Managed to transfer to the Rotax Bay, testing out alternators and generators which was much more exciting. Had a few private hirings in Newquay, Marcus Hill and also St Thomas Road, before being allocated a AMQ at St Eval, 218 Beaufort Avenue, lots of happy days motor biking from there to St Mawgan.
Managed to get back on a fitters course, and left St Mawgan 1974. Loved Cornwall and Newquay in the summer, but in winter the place was like a ghost town.

The best I could do with the newspaper clip
The man is definitely in the wrong job, merely a puppet for the penny pinching faceless MOD officials. He is certainly no friend of the veterans, me being one of them can vouch for that. After his last **** up over the National Defence Medal and it’s issue, same stance, none of us are worth a token of appreciation. I think he should be replaced by someone who gives a damn, shame on the man.
Rant over 😡
