working hard at the end of the show
quote stormin “whats that big black bit for, you know the big thing with the little pipes sticking out and the fan on the front”
I’ll have you know that I was the token rigger who had to come in early to sort panels out. So we missed the hanger party on Sat evening, and just had a quiet drink in St Andrews!!!!!!
“and just had a quiet drink in St Andrews” – yeh right, heart bleeds, violins play, blub blub blub. :dev2:
You a quiet drink, never,
Quote ‘however Lincoln is a very large tourist attraction and a Lancaster on it’s doorstep would be a big attraction’.
We get on average twenty thousand visitors through the hangar each year. If you want to visit it shouldn’t matter where we are located. However as I said in post no5 its just an unfounded rumour which nobody on the flight is taking seriously.
Nineteen thousand of those logged visits last year was me,
Do you ever take anything seriously, it wouldn’t have happened in my day…
Mind you we were very, very drunk. 😀
Wheres my tractor :diablo:
Spare sent up Sat evening/Sun morning, went in at 7.30am and we had it fixed by 10. Left on time Sun afternoon.
You mean someone fixed it for you don’t you “Stormin”. I didn’t think you got your hands dirty these days…..
I would like to pass on my best wishes to the crew of the T33, exellent job and well done to the Duxford Fire & rescue crews and a well deserved well done to Duxford for being on top of a bad sittuation, your procedures seem to be spot on.
mick.
Now, as for the rest of you, carry on bitching…….
just remembered Bravo Delta Models do a wooden pre painted ML407 as well.
Not endorsed by the “Grace Spitfire” though.
mick
There were some solid wood models of the Grace Spitfire available at one of the show stalls at Dx at the weekend. Not sure that these are ‘officially approved’ though.
Correct, not ‘officially approved’ at all.

some nice shots there 🙂 did the F15 just do a Flypast?
James
Be thankfull they found Duxford at least.
mick
Well done to the 558 team, I hope things are on the up for you.
There are more people wanting you to take flight than wanting you to stay on the ground.
A special thankyou goes to Sir Jack Hayward.
mick
Does anybody know if the Vickers Varsity will be going under cover?
I do hope so.

Bader – Not for me.
After having been told to “Get your ********** hands off me, I’m not a ********** cripple” while trying to help him after he stumbled while getting off an aircraft at Abingdon many years ago, I don’t give a f**K for the bloke.
If yo wanted to know what he was really like to fly & fight with Wg Cdr Bill (Cherry) Vale would have made your hair turn. Vale tried to get him grounded due to dangerous flying – “The idiot didn’t learn” said Bill. Saddly Bills no longer with us either.

Start them young.
mick
Oooooooh, isn`t she bloomin` gorgeous?! :diablo:
You are such a tease ……………….
100 hours a year, that seems to be a lot more than your average warbird flies, including transit flights to and from airshows.
ML407, (The Grace Spitfire) does 70 – 80 hours a year. But then again it has to earn its keep. I should think the average Spitfire is around the 30hr mark.
BBMF fighters used to be limited to 50hrs a year.
