😀
Just give him a quilt so that he doesn’t get cold!
Somebody give the chipmunk pilot a nudge, think he’s asleep!
Chicks away old chap…
Had a good day at Duxford today. Shame poor old miss Velma was stuck out in the cold, good close up look at her tho. Good tour of Sally B from Jo. Would share some pictures but you have seen them all Before, plus not sure how to share on here.
Saw the MK 1 Spitfire mentioned above in the flesh today. She looks fresh off the Battlefield . The scars tell story’s of the bravery them boys had back in the war… Enough said !
The Manston hurricane LF751 has the same radioactive problem. They have a plastic screen over panel
the paint looks really good then I suppose she has been indoors nearly 70 years. Funny how you have an early Spit in a later scheme, and BM597 wearing early green and brown. I hope they put R6915 in the BIB exhibition for a while.
With the radiation – how can instruments in say, P7350 be any different to those in this Spit?
Thanks for posting
P7350 instruments im guessing would of been replaced with more modern gear.. I’m only guessing as I don’t see any BBMF pilots glowing in the dark 🙂
Thanks for link
Happy 2013 to you all , and thanks for a great start to diary 2013 🙂
Yes a big thank you from me to all involved in providing us with excellent Updates on Duxford and the resident warbirds. It’s been a great year at DX. I’d like to thank all the guys who work at DX that keep such an amazing place alive with living history. Thanks to all the engineers from all the diffrent company’s who give there time giving these old birds there much deserved TLC..
Thank you and a very Happy New Year to all…..
The paint stripper is just DX humour….. They read this thread and tease us….
Yep they are all at Biggin Hill. Iv been on a couple of hanger tours. You get up close to the aircraft. The guys are great. They even offer a sit in a spitfire. Even a display by one of the Mk 9 spits has happened in past
Just been reading up on The Spitfire. She moved straight from RAF service in 1946 and stayed at Lambeth ever since. I actualy agrea that she should be left well alone. Just a little TLC . Other than that how original can you get???
Yeah congrats DCW, I really enjoy this page.. Thanks to all who share there pictures..
On a more sad note, 2013 could be Sally Bs last year flying (page 6 Sally B news)
Lets prey they can raise the cash needed..
Lets not polute this thread with the Burma Spitfires ****e, otherwise i may have to kill someone.
Rob
Why?
We discus other aircraft not DX related.
Because there is a perfectly tedious thread elsewhere to discuss that topic – Mods
