Reading today that its expected the Burma Spitfires could possibly be flying in the next 3 years… It also stated that there were some uk company’s willing to restore them. I’m guessing ARCO, TFC maybe? Heard any whispers ?

It says excavation will start January ..

Let’s hope HACs hurricane stays in the Uk. Oh and it’s my birthday on auction day so if you want to buy me a gift

Yes, there are three airframes involved in total.

RCAF9893 is the IWM aeroplane, that has been partially restored with the repaired (to static) centre section of 10038

RCAF10038 was the original flyer, that flew, and was lost in 1987

RCAF10201 is the current airframe, which crashed in 2003, and has now been repaired with a Mk 1 nose.

There are others in the UK; One with the Bristol Museum at Filton, one in the RAF Museum, and one at East Fortune.

So I was right then. The airframe that crashed in 87 was a total write off.

The first one was a complete write off. As said a second was restored, which itself was Badly damaged in a landing accident at DX. She now sits in ARCO close to flight status

I find Duxford caters for all needs… My preference is living history, seeing a Spitang or a Hurrismitt fire up is is amazing, and yes I will be running to watch no matter what I’m doing….

Duxford is a special place and I will continue to visit no matter what…

The flyers at DX are what make Duxford what it is. Otherwise the place would just become another static museum. Duxford keeps historic aviation alive. That brings visitors , and lots of them. I highly doubt they will move the flyers away, ever.

As always, thanks for the picture updates gents 🙂

I hope HACs Hurricane stays in the uk. We have lost a few birds to the US recently… Even better if she stays at DX…

    Sigh, and I live 142 miles, 2 hours 33 minutes away 🙁

I’m about 1hour 30 from DX .I Have very juicy engine in my car. But nothing would stop me going as much as possible.. I love the place .

But I’d be lost without the guys on here. The regular updates on everything, even the little things don’t get missed.. Duxford in my living room 🙂
