What is painted number on the inside of the panel? I will continue my search of photographic evidence of the Artic White scheme

Over 100 posts in this thread, who would have believed it.

    Appears to be access panel 10, part no YB3 11 64 88 3A

Yes, two I believe but finding photos of them is proving extremely difficult, I have put out several requests but all to no avail at the moment.

buccsociety, The reason I ask is I’ve got an access panel from a Bucc which is grey with the green over painted with the temporary arctic white.

Thanks for the updated list smarchitelli

    A question though

If XW270 at Coventry University has the wing of XV748, which wing does XV748 at Yorkshire Air Museum, Elvington have?

Coventry Uni’s Harrier and Westland Scout both came from Everett Aero at Ipswich and I am still trying to ascertain that the Scout is a composite.

    Roger Smith.

It appears XV748 many have had a mainplane change January 1990, the F700 quotes “Mainplane surface finish to be restored, M/PLANE Serial No ? ” The later part was added at a later date in pencil. Hope this helps

We all seem to be getting very upset about the scrapping of one exfoliating hulk of aluminium, which by the end, that was all it was! Did we all get this excited when the Phantoms, Buccaneers, Lightnings, Canberras, Victors etc were scrapped in the late 80’s early 90’s. Lots of aircraft with interesting histories, is servicable/operational condition scrapped at Wattisham, Lossiemouth, Binbrook, Wyton, Marham etc.
Question – How many complete Vulcan airframes and cockpits are in the UK? Interesting to compare a list with the other type mentioned above.
