Congratulations on getting engaged Jon and good luck with the move to Speke
No mate thats F4s
Depends what your looking for 😉
Another great event at Newark, good to catch up with Anon, Alvampman, Flying Saucer, Jon H, XV806, Pure Lightning, Pully113 to name a few. A nice selection of cockpits again but a bit short on aerojumble this year, although the weather didn’t help.
Thanks to TwinOtter23 for allowing my last minute change from selling to displaying my Tornado panel. Roll on 2012
First time I’ve heard of this event, sounds interesting. Being a local, I will try and attend.
As a thought the G stamp might be the stamp of Goodyear who made F4 sub assemblies unfortunatly i cant find my F4 book with this stuff in it at the minute.

You would need to see the ID/Mod plate to confirm the manufacture code letter, most of the non UK stabilators I’ve seen are coded MM which would make them Republic Aviation, Farmingdale, New York.
Most of the UK Phantoms are coded AK which is BAC manufacture. Hope that helps:confused:
You got mail;)
Another well organised event at Newark, as others have said, sold a bit, bought a bit and chatted lots……..something you can’t do on ebay;)
Your unknown Phantom was XV496, ex Wattisham dump
The other unknown F4 next to G-LOND was XV486, another ex St Athan airframe.
The first aircraft is XV393 which still survives as a cockpit today and the tiger stiped Phantom is actually XV404 (former 19Sqn ‘I’)
Top picture, nearest cockpit is XV402 and the other with the nose leg down is XV399, both ex St Athan.
The Canberra was ex St Athan dump, WE173 rings a bell, but as I haven’t got access to my notes, that’s only a guess 😉

With access to my notes, the Ex St Athan dump Canberra was WK144 and removed for scrap late 91
So Hanningfields processed two Vulcan’s then ? Or more than two perhaps ?
.
I think they had a very burnt cockpit from Manston Fire School
The Canberra was ex St Athan dump, WE173 rings a bell, but as I haven’t got access to my notes, that’s only a guess 😉

Que Pee,
Great photos
The Tornado at Abingdon is the one that crashed shortly after take off in September 1989, it is/was ZD710 if I remember correctly.
As for the Hanningfield Metals photos the Vulcan is the nose of XM656 from RAF Cottesmore and I think the Canberra with the painted fire section phone extension no is from the dump at Wattisham (maybe). I have also visited the yard, and can look up when I get home.
one or two of the regulars on here could confirm them however.
cheers
Tim S
They have 5 in the DCAE, take your pick from XV643, XV653, XV659, XV701 and ZA131.
And it was in quite good condition when I checked it out earlier this year 😉
