Does anyone have a contact for the Phantom Preservation Society/Group?
Many thanks in advance.
Drop me a PM, sure I can help.

What you need are No.1 – 5 High Torque bits depending on what you are doing. The majority of fasteners in a GR.3 are No.3’s – forget sharpening up anything to do the job – you need the correct bit which will fit on a 1/4 drive.
Having been on the last U.K GR.3 Minor team it’s very likely that I put a lot of the H.T screws in that you are trying to undo – therefore if you PM me you address I will send you a No.3 bit which should make your life easier!
Listen to David Burke’s reply, don’t bother messing with modified screwdrivers as mentioned in other replies, High Torque fasteners are designed to be removed with High Torque bits, and sometimes it’s hard enough with the correct tool
Good weather!!!! anyone seen a long range forecast?
Sun means I have a stall and clear out the junk, rain means it all stays in the garage until next year
A big thank you to all at Flypast for printing the photo……..one of the many happy days we had.
If its the VARSITY, the shape of the cowlings look right, then it will be WF425 from Duxford
That’s the one I was thinking of, seem to remember something about Duxford.
Great photos – thanks for sharing them. What is/are the radial engined remains and u/c in the background of the 3rd photo?
If memory serves me correctly, I think they are from a Varsity, certainly one there at around the same time. When I can access my notes, I will confirm the serial number.
Thanks for your kind words Phil, surprising how long ago it was, I’d say he bought the cockpit around 1996. The car verses garage door and Mk7A seat made for an interesting insurance claim 😮
Thanks for your kind comments Junk Collector, many happy days at the jumbles fighting over F4 parts.
Look again Anon….. there are seven, top left behind the tail
What you would give to have an hour with tools……… nobody looking!!!!
WOW!
What a collection. I counted six Phantoms and seven Meteors just in those few photo’s – my favourite types of jet.
Most, if not all, of that lot must have a wealth of combat history behind them.
Please post a few more pics.
Anon.
I’ve got the first 5 years of FlyPast bound for sale if anyone is interested???
[QUOTE=XM692.;1348314]Perhaps the word “anything” is a bit strong ?

Anything Tornado can find a good home here 🙂

Sea Vixen XG731 was scrapped and removed in early 1998. The airfield has been out of use for years, and I believe recently that extensive parts of the wartime site has been demolished.Kind Regards
Scotty
XG731 was a Sea Venom FAW22
Didn’t something similar happen at Leeming shortly before the Buccaneer retired from service?
