This would be gorgeous even if just a twin, but with that cheeky little engine on the nose……well – simply enchanting!
That’ll be a Northrop YC-125 Raider if your curious. Awesome short field capability, tragically short production run.
Does anyone else think the Douglas DC-5 was quite smart looking sadly not got a piccy though.

It is not our job to judge the terrorist successful or otherwise, that is for god to decide. Our role is to ensure that that judgemental meeting takes place at the earliest possible time and with the absolute minimum loss of innocent life.

Sorry for joining this thread late on. I’ve a set of profile illustrations that I did of Carvairs a couple of years back if you’d be interested in using them in your book. I’ve sent you a PM, but had no reply, so apologies to everyone else for having to do this ‘publicly’.
Regards
Simon

Dont know about suicide bombers but those two must have had a death wish, trying to get between Glasgow men and their holiday in then sun after the wettest June in 400 years !!!
What I’m dreading is going to B&Q for a bottle of gas for my B-B-Q. Passport, Driving Licence, bottle of blood for DNA and 3 out of my 4 grand parents ( or the cremated ashes thereof) as proof of origin.
Hope those nurses , bless ’em, are not being too gentle :dev2:

Bit off-topic, but RAF Tristair departed Birmingham UK (BHX) last night as I was being taxied to the gate. Presume they’re not doing anything hush-hush?
Probably delivering more Iraq or Afghanistan casualties to the specialist hospital near Brum. The name of which escapes me.

These P-51s did fly across the pond within the last 30 years. Not sure if the list is complete though. (After all its 05:00 in the morning)
1977 N5747 Flown to Europe (and back) in the summer of 1977.
1979 N166G Flown to the UK together with a P-47 for Doug Arnold.
1980 N6340T Arrived in Geneva in the summer of 80. Flown by John Crocker I think.
1986 N167F Flown to Norway by Anders Sæther and Mette Lium.
1987 N12066 Jack Shaver delivered it to the late Charles Church.
1987 N1051S Ward Wilkins flew this one to the UK.I seem to recall that Doug Armold’s N314BG flew across, but the other two were shipped over in 1992.
F-AZMU “Jumpin Jaques” now in the UK came from South America on either an Air France or UTA cargo plane, but since it was without the use of its own power I guess it doesn’t count!

Awesome reply. So comprehensive many thanks. Any one care to add other single engined war birds who have made the big trip in preservation times?
