A man I have admired from affar. A genuine genius. Perhaps they will name AN-225 Number 2 for him?
Absolute total respect from me, and condolances to his family.

……….. are you sure it was soviet agents?, i had heard that the labour party had been put under pressure by the amercans to have the F-111 and destroy the TSR.2, which outperformed the F-111 in every way. anyway this plan backfired in the end due to problems with the F-111 🙂

    As I said

Was it Soviet agents of influence because they were both too good or
American comercial interests because they were both too good?

I’m personally not sure, which way it was.

The North American XB70 Valkyrie first flew in September 1964 but was cancelled after a fatal collision with an F104 in June 1966, with some models cancelled while under costruction and some as early as 1959. only one survives at USAFM Dayton, Ohio.

    Dear all,
The biggest problem I have with the cancellation of TSR-2 and CF-105
is not the politicians who did but who told them to do it! I have always
thought there was more to it than simple political convienience, financial
    expedience or stupidity.
Was it Soviet agents of influence because they were both too good or
American comercial interests because they were both too good?

As regards Nimrod AEW 3 It was so nearly fixed. I dread to think what will happen if an AWACS gets into the wrong hands. All our eggs in one basket. Scary!!
Any one got any thoughts on the P1154?

I am rapidly approaching DSLR decision time too, but my brand choice is probably already made. I’ve been a Canon man for years A-1 T90 EOS-30. But why oh why does each itteration of the Digital EOS family have to be smaller than the last. How do you hold a 30D or 400D with a half decent length lens on it.
Any ideas when the 40D is due for release.
Comments appreciated from you folk who are already doing it. “Grip firmly with both hands, tuck your elbows in to your ribs as hard as possible” doesn’t appear to fit any more.

    Gentlemen,
Thanks for all the encouragement and support. I received email this morning that a contract for the book is being sent for signing. As soon as it arrives and is reviewed I will update everyone.
I will be contacting a number of you who have provided data and photos to secure a release to publish items constributed. Also I would still like to locate a few photos. Crash at Le Touquet of G-APNH, LN-NAA derelict at Bangkok, mock-up photos of PH-DBZ, and crash of F-BMHU at Karachi. I am always interested in additional photos that I don’t currently have. We will be using at least 175 in the book.

Thats great news Patrick congratulations. Please put me down for a copy.
Will you be doing a European book signing tour 😮

Odd twist of fate really, Count Gustav von Rosens MFI-9 s were up against Migs 19s and 17s I believe and now these guys are going against Mig 29s.
Not much new under the sun I suppose.

A pity they don’t still have corporal punishment out there in the colonies.

This struck me as a strange fact: as this aircraft was totally destroyed in the sad Biggin Hill crash, why is it still listed as ‘current’ on the register, according to this website?

    http://www.airport-data.com/aircraft/N3710G.html

    Tillerman.

Just for completeness the N number enquiry
    http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry/NNumSQL.asp?verified=1&NNumbertxt=3710G
Shows it as owned by Duane A EGLI from Texas, who has not replied to the FAA tri-annual ownership update enquiry.
    Hope it helps
