Oh yes, I second that. Very nice pub…for London anyway. The Claddagh Ring’s not bad but I was violently sick all over one of their toilets one night and have been a bit shy about showing my face in there ever since.

I used to go to the Firkin actually in Hendon and not Mill Hill/Colindale where the Museum is. Real beer and acceptable food. Saddly, as far as I know, the Firkin chain was bought over and they stopped all their micro brewery shenanigans (Boo-Hiss). No idea what it’s like now.

Slight back pedal. The Rotol units for the Sipt II and Hurri I were slightly different. The spinner types I’m thinking of are the ES/4 & ES/5 for the Siptfire Mk.II and the ES/6 for the Hurricane. ES/6 spinners also found their way onto the early reconnaissance Spitfire D.

Ooh…A Ripon…now that would be something!

And as you say a Blenheim would be fab but I’m still nice to have the four Bolingbrokes available in the UK.

We do have a few a couple of Gnat F.1s left though.

Oops…back pedal time. I think the IIID in the Airforce Museum is a replica but the Portuguese Navy have the real thing.

Yup the Strutter is a replica.

Airco DH.9 in France (although Guy Black is putting one togeather over here)

Bristol M.1c in Austrailia (Lots of very good replicas about but C5001 at the Harry Butler Memorial is the only real one left.)

Westland Wapiti in India. (Cor would love to see one of these back in the UK)

Must be more but I can’t think of any at the moment.

I thought the Fairy III in Portugal was a very good replica…I may be wrong though

A few years ago I had the privilege of talking to a former AASF pilot who managed, as he put it, 2½ operational flights. A gang of 109s spoiled his third and he spent the rest of the war as a POW.

He was very fond of the old Battle,’A beautiful machine to fly but a disaster as a weapon of war’. Post war he went on to fly Mosquitos but he ‘Never got the hang of the things. Far too much power for my liking.’

As far as I know these were part of the radio equipment. I believe if you look at photos of T.1154 transmitters you will see one of these attached to it.

Sorry if this is duff info but I’m doing it from memory and haven’t had a chance to look up anything yet.

Hang fire for a second chaps.

Has anyone actually seen one out of its box? It wouldn’t be the first time Corgi have released pre production photos of their latest model showing a few mistakes but when you finally see the model in the flesh all the mistakes have been rectified. Corgi appear to be slightly unusual in that what is contained in the box is usually better that what’s shown on the box.

Err…Thats another Mk.5. It’s the one in the Battle of Britain Hall I was thinking of. I wonder who let that be plugged into the spit V and in a National Museum as well.

    Tisk Tisk.

Ooh…Sorry to be sad but that looks like a Mk.5 Trolley Acc which is a post war model and quite different to the wartime ones. Its all well and good me telling you this but can I supply a photo of a wartime example…not a chance. If anyone is passing Hendon in the next couple of days you could see if they could take a couple of pics of the one that used to be plugged into the Spit Ia in the BoB hall.

    Hmm…need to get out more!

    Hello again.

Sorry to say that it will be mid November before I’ll have a chance to have a look at the schedule and as Elliott has pointed out it may not turn up anything.
