There are a couple of poor quality photos on Flight Global Archive which show SSVAF Audaxes. Have a look at this page and the page before.

According to Putnam’s Hawker Aircraft since 1920, the Osprey moved over to stainless steel construction late in 1932. It is however a little hazy on details. Where’s a copy of a post 1932 AP1431 when you need one?

The box is a Jettison Switch which appears to be missing its flap plate and indicator lamp. I think the other item which is half hidden by the throttle is possibly the valve for the main fuel tank.
OTC = Officer Training Corps. The Army equivalent to the University Air Squadrons.
Not V690/1 but if you look carefully you’’ll notice it’s actually Y690/1 which gives you a Genet Major Powered Avro Avian.
As I created the table linked above (and I could get a bit miffed if I wanted to as it’s credited to someone else) I can tell you that the information comes from Air Ministry Orders and more specifically props to be withdrawn from use.

I don’t appear to have recorded the title as I was in a bit of a rush when I photographed these a good number of years ago but I think they are from the unit equipment tables which used to form the Appendix to the Volume III (Spares Schedule) of an Air Publication.

No, it’s in store at Stafford.
Wow!
That is a gold mine of useful information you have on your site. So nice of you to allow free access to it.
Thank you.

I’m sure that I’ll be unpopular for saying this but isn’t a bit late for a petition? The demolition work for the redevelopment has pretty much happened, I presume the building work is about to begin and the chapel should be reopening in later in the year.

I can understand that some people may not like the redevelopment but I’m bet there were people who looked at the plans for of the 1950s or 1990s structures and didn’t like what they saw.
I’m now donning my battle bowler in preparation of the inevitable incoming.

Chaps, you are quite correct.
The missing cover and one barnacle incrusted feature led me to see something that isn’t actually there.
So as you were saying, most likely a DeHavilland Hydromatic prop attached to a Hercules reduction gear.
Slightly shame faced Anne.
Ignore this post, I was talking c**p!

The basic DH.5220 drawing number was used for pretty much every single engine DH design using a Gipsy III or Major of the 1930s. I don’t have a listing for the MX/20 but the MX/19 and MX/21 were used on the Tiger Moth and Queen Bee.

Maybe she’s grumpy because you ignored the information in her first reply.
The item in question is not something that the RAF Museum came up with so why ask them?
Oh I can’t help myself…Spectrum is Green!
