when I said 10 years. the time period starts from when C-130 was first selected to the time when last of the 12 airplane is inducted. this is 10 year period.
India cannot be blame for IL-214 as it cannot contribute anything. so there is no chance of India has any impact on IL-214 schedule.

Thats true, that WAS the reason to involve Russia into MTR project. It was supposed to be mutually beneficial project, where India gets the know-how in exchange of footing the bill. But it is going no where, so there is Avro replacement.

Of course Russia also require similar planes for their services, so they need IL-476/IL-214 and will develop based on their timelines/funding etc.

I will congrats to PAF if UAE sell their entire or partial stock of Mirage 2000-9.

As with current instability in Arabian sphere, UAE (may be) plans to depend upon only on F-16E/F 😀

I might be wrong but it was not planned to replace any engines during the super 30 upgrade. But who knows, what is in the IAF´s mind. Lets wait and see :very_drunk:

Some air forces are still flying MiG-21s.

It is cheap to manage and operate Mig-21s, which can not be said for T1. In fact that is why these are discarded at the first place. So don’t expect those air forces buying these shinning planes.

Lets wait for the findings but my addition to current discussions

It is a test system, accidents do happen but I am glad that pilot is OK. Feeling bad that one prototype will be written off. It will require at least one engine, almost complete rewiring and many other components to be replaced. It might be better to scrap it at the end and put efforts in new prototype after doing failure analysis.

Last but not least …. keep your hopes high and spirits fly team Russia, Good luck.

Expect big boosts for Indian defense agencies, equipment, more locally developed content and improved border infrastructure.

That is all said and done. But if entity is of national importance then why Govt let it sold to international company and not invest its own money (or let saab buy it). German company was there to make profit and will consolidate their know-how at one place when defense orders are shrinking. It was knee jerk reaction without any win, which dented their reputation.

With this I rest my case, let everyone of us make our individual opinions.

What rules, specifically? Are you fully versed in Swedish national law?

They could have send police with court search warrant or seal the office with court order. What they have done is political mobbing on a pure commercial entity. I assume it is basic, but may be you can point some local laws which justifies that action?

Really, the Germans are unwise if they are trying to play hardball here. A government acting on what it perceives as a matter of national security does not have to play by the rules.

If it was matter of national security then why they allowed at first place to sell it to a German company?
What is the national emergency which can justify “Malmo operation”?
How a Govt can earn respect if they don´t play by the rules? And even worst, cooked up reason to break rule 😮

India test fires long range N-missile launched from under sea

In a significant step towards completing the nuclear triad available with a few nations, India has successfully test-fired a nuclear-capable ballistic missile launched from an underwater platform with a range of over 2,000 kms.

The missile, which can be launched from submarines, was test-fired yesterday in the Bay of Bengal and all parameters were met, Defence Ministry sources said.

This is the longest range missile in the underwater category to have been developed by India.

With this development, India has developed the capability of launching long-range nuclear-capable missile from surface, air and underwater.

Defence Minister AK Antony has congratulated the team of scientists involved in the tests.

Launch from a submarine and integration of the three types of capabilities will mean completion of the nuclear triad, which is available only with a few countries like the US, France, Russia and China.

The submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) is being readied for deployment on various platforms including the around 6,000-tonne indigenous nuclear submarine INS Arihant which will soon be ready for sea trials, sources said.

The missile is part of the family of underwater missiles being developed by DRDO for the Indian strategic forces’ underwater platforms.

The DRDO has already developed the BO5 missile, which can strike targets at a range of around 700 km.

India has a no-first-use policy for nuclear weapons and the development of an SLBM boosts its retaliatory strike capability, experts said.

Although this missile will require more tests … but another step to fill the gaps.

    –OT START–
Neither weight nor volumn is the reason of calling it tincan. Actually why Arjun is not the MBT of IA because it can not fly. So at BRF, are waiting it to fly so that IA can order it numbers :very_drunk: I would not put scram at BRF but here I have to add. It could be some times scram which people miss due to missing context.

T-90 is a tincan in comparsion to Arjun-I, remember army did trail of T-90 and Arjun-I. Arjun beat T-90 fair and square. If you are following that discussion, you know the problems of both systems and how quickly Arjun-2 matured. MoD has ordered DRDO to fit few Arjun components to T-90s already.

It is a prime example of corruption which has taken hostage arjun. If you are following it, even Russian army is not touching it with a 10 meter long pole.

    — OT END —

Please start new thread if you wish to discuss anything related to BRF. Lets not derail this thread. Thanks

    Another accident

Accident at under-construction nuclear submarine site in Visakhapatnam, 1 worker killed

One worker has been killed and two others are injured in an accident at an under-construction nuclear submarine site in Visakhapatnam where India is building its first class of three nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines.

The incident took place when the pressure of the hydraulic tank of the Arihant class submarine was being tested and the tank’s lid fell on the workers at Building-5 of the shipbuilding cente, Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO) chief Avinash Chander said.

“During testing of a pressure tank at a facility of Department of Defence R&D related to development of submarines at Vishakhapatnam, an accident took place while testing of a pressure tank at about 5 PM in the evening,” a statement by the DRDO said.

INS Arihant, which is likely to go on trials any day, has not been damaged. “The submarines are safe and the accident does not adversely affect the project,” the statement added.

An inquiry into the accident has reportedly been ordered by the DRDO chief.
