Maybe I’m easily pleased Hampden, but I find flying on multiplayer is quite enjoyable, especially with teamspeak and a mate or 4. I’ve not touched the career after trying it when it was first launched as it was truly terrible.

I’m away from my home PC for 3 weeks but if anyone fancies teaming up for an online CloD sortie or 2 send me a PM and we’ll arrange something. Normally online as O_Ghost with the Oceanic Wing group.

I was playing it with the last official patch installed overthe weekend and found it ok (well compared to the dogs breakfast that came before).

Moggy, the trick with ground starting is to warm the engine thoroughly and watch the oil and coolant temps – the oil cooler control is important as the the oil temp will go high before the coolant is up to temp. Then prop pitch to full fine and try and find the runway or just open the taps and hope there are no bumps. A cold motor will go pop everytime!

Was on the ATAG server and managed to cross the channel and strafe an aerodrome, take flak damage and returned for a dignified belly landing (no flaps or gear).

RoF is still the nicest online sim for me though.

‘Fields of Little America’ by Martin W Bowman had a useful appendix on the 2nd Air Division showing organisation and tail markings etc. Good book if you come across it.

I think Ruprecht will have his own HBO mini series eventually.

Flying Wild Alaska had me shouting at my screen on more than one occasion…

I’m a Tomtom fanboy – we had Garmins at work a few years ago and they were terrible so I’ll never look at them again although they’re probably ok..

I love the camera warnings and Tomtom live. I actually use it in preference the OE nav in the car. £149 for mine from Halfords

RAF Lindley (now MIRA) supposedly has stuff buried – the banking on No 1 circuit apparently caused older generations of test equipment to go strange due to the amount of metal underneath it.

The Lotus plant at Hethel also has it’s rumours of buried engines and jeeps.

I’m happy to help as well Moggy, just let me know. I have access to a Teamspeak server so if jbritchford and yourself (well anyone else as well) want to join me there we can do some training battles and platoon battles. Drop me a PM and I’ll give you the details.

My EU account is at a very low level so I want to work it up.

My favourite is the E-75 tier 9, but I had a cracking battle last night in a PzIV. When you play Tier 1 and 2 everyone is a new player so for us ‘experten’ it can be a turkey shoot, which is why it would be good to team up with us.

It is worth paying for some gold because at least you can go premium which doubles your XP and Credits.

I love it – played again last night as one of my mates was online as well.

My US account has everything up to Tier 10 and it’s great fun. It’s best when you use Teamspeak or Mumble and play as a platoon.

I’ve also got an EU account and a South East Asia account.

Apparently the last CloD patch made a lot of difference. Not had a chance to play it but some online mates reckoned it was a vast improvement. I do wonder if the Battle for Moscow project will have a BoB campaign eventually.

Still reckon Rise of Flight is the business though!

My first memory of a Spitfire would have been at a Coltishall open day/air show in the late sixties. I was small enough to sit on my dad’s shoulders so couldn’t have been more than 3 or 4. Used to get the BBMF aircraft flying about a lot then as Coltisahll was only a few miles from home.

I should get there about midday I hope.

Looking forward to meeting some of you I hope (I’ll be easy to spot or to be more accurate, hear – all will become obvious!)
