Having just read the night rating thread, this is a mission of some importance.

Although, even photographic evidence will not convince many on here….

Or the pilot who would walk up the aircraft between the passengers wearing dark glasses and using a white stick?

Another favourite of mine was the wartime instructor who had a novel way of encouraging students to go solo. I’m not sure which aircraft it was, but the stick was removable so he used to tap the student in the front cockpit on the shoulder and then cast the stick overboard. One student, having heard of this took a spare stick up and when the instructor threw his stick away, so did the student 😀 Apparently the instructors fingers were a bit of a mess on landing from trying to fly the aircraft using only the socket! History doesn’t record what happened to the student.

I used to be a member of the City of Norwich Aviation Museum, and 612 was run up every couple of weeks; most of the systems were operational. She was a constant headache to keep looking good though – and that was 10 years ago. Even then corrosion was setting in to the panel joins etc. Spent many a happy hour on a sunday morning in the cockpit talking rubbish!

Didn’t have the Paloust back then either.

I was wondering what had happened to the DC6’s out of Coventry – the base/finals turn is right over my house 😀

So when do the rest of the AACF get moving then?

All I see at the moment is fly.com buses..

I suspect the next show I attend will be Wings and Things at Woodchurch on 1st August

Where’s Woodchurch then? As a wingless wonder I’m restricted by having to go to places by car..

What is it with Cranfield? The comic has Taylor Aviation offering a 45 hour PPL package for £3825 + VAT including exams and ground school. Flyteam are offering a 32 hour NPPL course for £2700 – I expect this is plus VAT as well. I must admit to becoming quite cynical about these prices after listening to the advice on here!

Had a long chat on Saturday with Lucy from Northampton School of Flying – learnt a lot about transitioning between NPPL and JAA PPL either during training or post training. What I didn’t know was that any post NPPL P1 hours count towards a full JAA PPL subject to medical – is this right? I got the impression that with a further 10 hours, medical and GST one can move on from the NPPL. I’m open to correction here! This makes the NPPL a far more attractive proposition to a pauper such as myself….

you’re not snapper in disguise are you?

One smelling pistake and I get accused of being a froggery…:) I was quite distracted by Germany’s impending exit at the time, but I won’t apologise as it is a sign weakness and I’ll be torn apart by the dark creatures lurking in the gloomy recesses of the forum.

Well it was actually Moggy and Lofty. Janie was part of *snip* Swarfega and three Chippendales on Good Friday?

Dunno about anyone else, but as a sweet innocent newbie I REALLY want the full story behind this! I know I’ll regret it but…

Apparently Tony Blackburn has been suspended from Classic Gold for playing Cliff records (as heard on R4 on way to work this morning). BWAHAHAHA!

I went to college at what was Lanchester in Coventry. Is now the University of Somewhere..

Had a 15th floor room overlooking the Cathedrals.

That’ll be Coventry University then 😉 I’ve just finished a Degree there (never too old)
just working on the project, albeit slowly.

    Small world innit!

I’ve got to finish that then give up smoking and SWMBO says I can fly 🙂 🙂 Smoking covers one lesson a month….

I belive The Specials did a fine song all about Coventry some years ago. Is Coventry still the same I wonder, I’ve only ever visited / passed through.

No it isn’t a Ghost Town. It’s Hells Gate. The Economic Migrants are adding their unique ethnic flavour of robbery and violence, the Architecure was done by the bloke who did Basildon (after he came off smack and was on acid) and Nuneaton is just over the M6.

Actually I’m being quite harsh – not a terrible place compared to Lozzelles or Handsworth in Brum…

A ground controller, mmmmmm, been thinking of what that could be, only conclusion I have reached so far is that it’s one of those people you see at roadworks with a Stop / Go board. Am I close?

    Car park attendant? Traffic Bollard?

I only have one of the two at the moment however thankfully I am getting closer and closer to the Suffolk border with each move.

Actually I think you’re right about the past lives thing. Did my apprenticeship in Lowestoft – A more god foresaken place in winter I have yet to find.

I’ve also worked near Basildon – a place dreamed up in the fifties by lefties on mary jane.

And now Coventry. Are there any Buddhists here who can free me from damnation?

    John C
Hoping that flying will get me closer to God, cos He sure aint in Coventry (He probably did turn up but it was closed)
