    What a shower…

Considering that my UK political news tends to come from the Radio 4 Comedy Podcast I just want a “none of the above” on my postal vote!

I’ll vote for someone who’s willing to take a sensible non sensationalist view of climate change, has lived a real life (for example had a real job), is willing to support our armed forces and listens to the normal person who pays their taxes and wants a decent country to live in… More discipline in schools and higher educational standards (the abolition of league tables for a start). Stuff the vocal minorities and lets look after the silent majority!

I’m living in Japan. I don’t feel that homesick. That makes me sad because I should miss home and feel proud to be British, but I don’t.

Bad form to reply to ones own post, but I bought it. 8190yen which in UK money comes to about 55 quid, but I’ll bet it’ll be more when it gets “home”.

It is a model of great beauty and I’m looking forward to bodging it together in my own inimitable manner. I’m busy mangling a 1/25 Tiger[1] at the moment so the IX will sit in the cupboard for now, but a couple of things I noticed:

    1. This may be the first of a number of versions, including a clear one. There are some seperate parts that look as if they can change stuff in the future and the level of interior detail is quite stunning.

    2. The wings have seperate panels for the gun bays, but no interior detail or guns. Again, this maybe to allow a more detailed version later but still a bit wierd.

[1]I’m trying to teach myself how to use an airbrush, and I figured an AFV offers more room for error

The Jaguar Factory at Castle Brom allegedly has a Spitfire wing patching a hole in the roof, and (slighty off topic) Lancaster bomb door hydraulic rams are still in use at MIRA to power a test rig.

I went for Intel and Nvidea, but it’s more important to get the mainboard future proofed in my opinion.

Oh and make sure you use a 64 bit OS if you want more than 3GB of your memory to be used 😮 Not that I’d do such a stupid thing, oh no… All sorted now but I did feel a bit stupid.

I’m running an Intel Core 2 duo 8400 on an Asus P5Pro M/B, 4 GB RAM and an Asus NVidea GeForce EN9600GT graphics card, and FSX pretty much runs at eleven accross the board. Pretty much all of my components ended up as Asus for some some reason but it seems pretty solid – had to reseat a memory module once but that’s been the only issue.

Modern Warfare 2 runs smooth as you like as well so I’m happy for the moment!

I have bought it, played it and kind of enjoyed it. I was dissappointed with the paucity of airframes – you have to buy more (the standard offering is the DVIII, Albatross DV, SPAD and Nieuport 28 IIRC). I did buy the SE5a and I have been shot down more times than I can count.

It’s incredibly difficult and I turned much of the realism off to avoid losing interest and there wasn’t much activity on the multiplayer side of things. Graphics are lovely and it does have a nice feel. Did I mention that it’s difficult?

If you have the time and patience then it’s worth the money – a Logitech driving force steering and Race Driver Grid has my attention at the moment, closely follow by Modern Warfare 2 so RoF is gathering dust at the back of my hard drive for the time being. I will go back to it though!

Really surprised that Inglorious *******s never appeared in this thread!

Strange plot (as always with a Tarantino flick), but some good performances.
Saw it in August while I was in the UK and it’s just out here – should hit the markets in DVD form around Xmas I guess. Still not sure what to make of it although I did enjoy it for some reason – maybe the fact that the plot is complete tosh and doesn’t pretend to be factual helps!

I’ve tried watching The Red Baron on DVD twice so far and each time I’ve got really annoyed at the storyline and innaccuracies and binned it after 20 minutes..

Last movie? Ipcress File on dvd – need to track down Funeral in Berlin and Billion Dollar Brain while back in the UK for Christmas.

Getting my fix via iTunes – currently only up to Meccano, so ZRX61 you can (for a small fee) download them from there if you so desire!

Some peeps moan about having to pay for BBC stuff but given the choice of local content I’m happy to spend the cash! I will never moan about UK telly again.

I’m eagerly awaiting the latest Top Gear now as well 🙂

I didn’t realise that – I like the 1946 tasters in the Aces pack so might have to complete the set!

What’s the Battle of Britain thing then? My Google-fu is weak today..

Surprised that no-ones mentioned Pacific Fighters – That with the Aces expansion pack gives a huge range of options to play with.

My current fave is a the single mission with the Me163 against B17’s, but I also tend to set campaigns up as well. The only cheat I use is switching off
spins and stalls, as it happens far too easily in the heat of combat. It’s meant to be fun after all 🙂

My Confuser is a bit out of date to tell the truth, but it’ll do for now!

Thanks for the advice on the pens – I’ll grab some next time I’m near staples/smiths/wherever!
