23BN has the larger intake shield – for layer airflow separation (is this correct in english??). and rectangular intakes
27 has a very small shield and the outboard wall of the intakes is bulged

jsut finished building models of mig-27 and mig-23BN 😀
aside from the intakes and other bits mentioned the 23BN has fuselauge pylons (same as mig-23) whereas MiG-27 has pylons on the bottom of the intake. the Nose of the MiG-23BN is similar to early Mig-27s, but quite different fron the rest of the family.

how did this happen? I mean the overall impression to me is Astans been put on the backburner (or done on the cheap) and as a result, is being paid for now 🙁
