hiya curashee!
Thats a mightyfine il-29 pic you got there! 😀
I havnt heard anyhting about a AAF il-28 regiment being active, though it woudent be suprising, as Ive seen a pic of a taliban marking on a il-28s tail, that one woudl assume indicates that some were still in operational status around the late 90s, anythings possible, its a simple in rugged AC…..
….though the roundals in pic look old and worn which issnt a promising sign…..
verr interesting though 😀
PS some pics of the camo on the back of the Kabul Su-22 Gate Gardian would rock 😀 ….do you know what happned to the random mig-21 that flew in 02? dossnt happen to by lying around? or any L-39s?
regards
that bulgarian mf numbered 515 appears to wear an “afghan like” camo pattern.. just compare…
damn i really shoudl have remembered to add my name to that mig profile! 😮
BTW in light of recent researsh its quite fictional, if u guys woudl like if got an ammended serries i can put up 🙂
Hiya!
these pics are form Sherbigan, around 2004 i believe
Hiya
info on **** quotes 1995, I had read elsewhere that it was 1994ish, so somewhere in that time period. certainly was an expensive trade SU-22s and Mig-21s for L-39s!! Interestingly, it seems these verry aircraft[the migs/Su’s] were requested back from Uzbekistan! lol
aw, what the heck! Have another 😀
These appear to be the ex Uzbeki L-39s that Dostum traded some fighter bombers for. They seem to be in well enough condition…i have pics of another inside a hangar that looks in equall good nick.

Hiya
I msut say these threads really are the best of KP! 😀 Ive got some great afghan pics of some of you guys, so hopefulyl this returns teh favour somewhat!

😀
HIya
Yes indeed! 😀 wearing Taliban Markings to i believe
Hiya!
The Wreck on the Right is definatly a regular 17F as it lacks the different canopy frame of the PFs. the one on the left could be..as it looks like there is remains of the different canopy frame.

Hiya
Nobody else did either till recently! LOL i found one in the bagram junk yard a few weeks back….chasing down the history at the moment 🙂 great lil photo!
Edit: These woudl appear to be part of a “boostershot” Daud recieved in the 70s Soviets supplied more Mig-17 and Il-28s to replace operational losses, atrition etc. SO far i have confirmed 2 Mig-17PF airframes…sadly the mig-17 repositry at Herat was taken out in Airstrikes…so we may never know how many 17PFs were in the DRAAF.

HIya
having built the kit, it goes together nicely, sort of reminds me of Academy Aircraft models. the nose is a little undersized for the fuselauge, but can correct with some putty. Small amounts of putty needed form the wingroot aft. Sadly the cockpit decals dont fit Verry well either.
Wierd to hear peopel cant find them in australia. I found it verry easy to get hold of them in NZ, and in my times in sydney Ive seen tons of trumpeter mdels around!
