It was a great event as usual, great to meet several cockpiteers that frequent this forum,a great bunch of chaps they are too!
One of my favourite threads on this forum along with the victor and nimrod one,I must express my appreciation of what you folk are achieving,an absolute joy to read the updates.well done all!
Great to see another Piper saved, best wishes with your restoration,it’s very rewarding putting a part back into the aircraft I never get tired of finding and installing parts for my pa28 restoration.
It has NO 28 and what appears to be IZ,and would appear to have been painted red overall.
I found one of those at Wickenby in the mud ,it does not have the long cylindrical part however,I will check it out this evening and report back with markings, the Z does seem familiar however.
It was an excellent day, great displays in the air and on the ground,I will certainly be back next year, but as there’s going to be camping available I think I’ll make a very long weekend of it,great to see CF alive again, hope it has a great future ahead.yes the queues were large on the exit, took me three hours to get out of the crash gate, but it was a lovely evening, with a beautiful sunset on a historic field,I didn’t mind one bit.( if anything annoyed me it was the funfair the noise was ridiculous but maybe I’m getting old!)
I flew into Manchester with Gill air back in the late eighties, when we landed I was deaf as a post in both ears for most of the day,it was very painful.the aircraft was G-BHHU.
Later I flew on 360 G-DASI,and G-TBAC.,I did my work experience at Gill, helping to change port engine and complete engine runs,I think this was on G-OGIL,which a few years later I helped dismantle for her journey to NEAM,then reassemble.i do have a soft spot for the old shed!
Thank you moggy ,please pass on my thanks to any others that have been involved.
Please feel free to move if you wish.
Keith
Good morning Moggy,I was thinking of piper28 if that’s possible?
Thank you.
my cherokee project,G-AWBH pics
good evening ladies and gents, thank you moggy for confirming the 12v supply for the Cherokee, and thanks to Terry P for your suggestion as to powering the vacuum driven instruments, interesting,i had not thought of that one!
Fouga23 and baz62 heres (hopefully!) some pics of BH,taken from just before delivery up until this evening,
best wishes,
keith
p.s is it possible to change username ,somehow xv473 does not seem so appropriate now,
A Cherokee is not quite a phantom!
Morning all! Sorry I have not uploaded any pics yet-once I arrived home from work I then put electrical power on the aircraft using the battery charger method which worked a treat,I’m very happy with it,it was rather late when I tried to upload some pics, will have another try this evening after work.
A very good day to you all!
Certainly fouga,I’ll have a go this evening via iPad once I’ve discovered how to do it……
Thank you to all who have replied, most helpful as ever,
My little Cherokee is a 1968 pa28-140 G-AWBH,so she is a very simple aeroplane which i believe is a 12v system (it certainly works ok on 12v ).other than the landing light there’s not much more that I would like to be operational at this time.i intend to use the battery charger tonight if the weather holds out,and will report back.
Best wishes to all!
Thanks for the replies chaps, typically I have a 25amp 12/24 charger,I’ve not tried it yet however, also I would need to run a cable (approx 30m) to the aircraft from my house,i believe this can cause issues too?
Best wishes,
Keith
I’m very impressed with the dedication and ‘can do’ attitude of these ladies and gents, remarkable achievement, well done!
